This four piece originally from Boston, Massachusetts consists of brothers Michael (vox) and Paul (guitars) Granata, Jim Campbell (drums) and recent addition of Los Angeles native Rico Avila (bass). With the addition of Avila Ript has written an extensive amount of new material that has firmly defined their own sound in the Los Angeles area.
Ript is an extension of 4 individuals musical influences brought together to create a rejuvenating, raw, indisposable and intelligent landscape of music. Their live shows are an explosive combination of classic and modern rock, fueled by a high-octane mixture of youthful energy. One of the many ideals of the band is to experiment within the songs to display unique uses of introductions, outros, verses, choruses, dynamics, solos, bridges and melodies.
Ript created a buzz throughout the Boston scene in 2005 when they were featured in national and local Boston venues such as Avalon, Paradise Rock Club, The Middle East, and sold out Bills Bar in January. The shining moment of that year was their involvement in the 2005 Emergenza International Battle of the Bands. Fans religiously came out to support Ript giving them the inspiration to take first place in the Preliminary and Semi-Final rounds, sending them to the United States National Final, where Michael took home best vocalist. Ript is a sight and sound that has the capabilities and intent to succeed. Ript is currently located out of Los Angeles and is set to release a new album in 2008.
