Carlos Alves was born and raised in Brazil. He has played music and professionally performed with a band called OS MISERAVEIS since the age of 12, when he received the medal as the Best Drummer in Lavras State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Alves plays Brazilian jazz, Electronica, and Rock, with drums as his main instrument. He was invited into the US by a childhood friend and ex guitar player of OS MISERAVEIS to joint a band in Winston Salem, NC called MINAS were he performed around the country.He has worked as a DJ for several years, spinning regularly at venues like NELL'S, THE TUNNEL, BAR DO' in New York City, and he has produced music for the fashion runway for Charles Chang-Lima and others for Quinto+Co at Brian Park. In the 1990's, Alves formed a band called ELECTRONIC EXPOSURE, and released a CD titled ARTIFICIAL LIFE, by Output Records.Electronic Exposure performed with a visual video by Lorenzo Shapiro called "Alien Escort Service" at venues such as VOID and FUN in New York. In 2000, Alves went solo, using the name Alvex and in 2004 he received a "Premier Grant" from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs for a performance called "NAVIGATION" with music by Alvex and visual's by Director Graham Elliott.
