Well, let’s just say I have been through quite a bit throughout my life. However, I have seemingly found a way to get through just about everything! %) I recently found this speech one of my *favorite* uncles gave for me on Christmas after my car accident a few years back;“Condition of a Prayer Answered†“. . . With Ev, it was not something we could put out of our minds, nor did anyone attempt to. As I said at Dad’s funeral, it’s unbelievable how powerful we are working together as a family. George can tell you the strength he gained from each of us. And as Ev laid there with a machine breathing for her, a bolt in her head measuring the pressure in her brain, a feeding tube through her nose, a blood transfusion and who knows how many tubes going in and out of her body, we were all hopeless, but not powerless. There were prayers, bold prayers, not just for her to wake up but for her to be Ev again. As I went to church I prayed to God and I prayed to Mom and Dad. I asked them to use Ev as an irrefutable, overwhelming example that God has obviously shed his light on this family. If she would do this, Mom, with God’s help, then, I would, as a condition of this prayer, stand up in front of everyone in the family and point out what should be very obvious to all of us now. I went in to see Ev that same day, and she squeezed my hand with purpose. The next day she struggled but opened her eyes. They held off on giving her a tracheotomy. Little by little the tubes throughout her body diminished. She was not out of the woods, yet, but going in the right direction. Now Look at her tonight less than **five** months later.We must **refuse** to forget this year.For all of us, for our own personal strengths . . . and for Evlynn’s victory.They are all ours tonight and forever.â€Love, Uncle Rob R.S.M. 12/25/02 …Even after all that, now my biggest challenge (besides the obvious of going to school and working) is accepting that things don’t always work out my way. I am used to pretty much getting what I want, as far as material things may go. When I see something I like I have to have it. I have always had the world at my fingertips. However, I’ve realized something. If you can watch the movie The Notebook and think of at least one person, then I am positive you have been in love once, too. My only advice would be to not misread obvious signals.
