About Me
Street light Suzie is a toxic trio consisting of Wiley Ross on Guitar and Vocals, Ben Evans on the Bass and Marc Perez on the drums. Street light Suzie began when Wiley moved to Austin from Springfield Missouri and Ben from Denver Colorado. The first handful of bands Ben tried playin with were a bunch of tools, as was the case with Wiley. So out of frustration Ben put an add in the musician section of the Chronicle that read, "looking for other musicians to smoke pot, drink beer and Rock out..." Wiley was one of the only few who responded. They immediatelly started practicing in Ben's shitty apt. and once they had a handfull of songs down they started looking for a drummer. They went through 24 try outs (most so excrutiating we don't even wanna talk about it) until they found Drummer 1 Justin Marks. But only after a small handful of shows Justin left the band. As was the case with drummers 2, drummer 3 and 4. Reasons for quitting ranged from Ben's "pot addiction" to Wiley's "destructive behavior". But none the less they made progress playing rowdy show after rowdy show. They now have landed Marc Perez on the drums and play shows all the time all over Texas. So come out, get loaded and havva blast! Street light Suzie's crudentials include: Winner of the 2006 Special Olympics battle of the bands, Being kicked out of our favorite bar for Wiley whippin it out at a band on stage, many many guitars being turned into shrapnel, snorting whiskey,setting off fire works in our van, mooning bullshit cliche Austin cock rock bands (yeah we're talkin to you pilot sunglasses guy with your Gun's n Roses shirt, bandana hangin out your pocket and stylish Nikki Sixx haircut), anyway we don't talk about the drunk fat chick nights etc. We're currently looking for a label who will put us on the road for ever and ever. You can always contact us through this website or call Ben at (512) 791-6046

====================================HERE'S A FEW REVIEWS::
Coming at you like a drug addled frenzy, Street Light Suzie dashes all hopes one might have for a sane, quiet evening. Fronted by the ever enigmatic Wiley Ross on guitar and vocals, Street Light Suzie also includes the always shoeless Ben Evans on bass guitar and the explosively energetic Marc Perez on drums. The energy they exude on stage is enough to satisfy anyone’s desire for hard pounding rock and roll, yet they do it all their own way. Their influences abound, from The Sonics to Black Sabbath to Tom Waits to what ever drug might be on the menu for he evening, but they never once wear an influence on their sleeves with any kind of exclusivity.
Street Light Suzie formed up three years ago when Ben Evans and Wiley Ross moved to Austin. They went through a precession of drummers, never finding one who could quite keep up until they chanced upon Marc Perez. Marc’s energy on drums adds a dynamic that meshes more than completely with the other two. And what about Ben Evans, the long haired, pot head-metal freak looking, always shoeless maestro on bass? The flailing around of his ass length hair and sight of his feet are near enough the cost of the cover one pays to see the show.
Having yet to put out a full length, yet with more than enough songs to do two, Street Light Suzie is a sight to behold. After the initial impact of your jaw hitting the floor, you will definitely be filled with as much energy and excitement as they dislodge from the very bowels of their beings. Their brand of rock and roll harkens back to the days of ‘60’s garage rock, ‘70’s burgeoning metal scene, ‘80’s hard rock, and ‘90’s grunge in a way you haven’t experienced yet. From the beginning of Mary Mayhem to the end of Cannibal Farm they will have you hooked with every riff, rim shot, hair flail and gyration.Street Light Suzie.This isn’t your father’s rock and roll. - Austin Berzerker Magazine - Oct. 2007 ============================================================

"Police Line Dot not Cross" the guitar strap says it all. Street light Suzie brings back dirty rock 'n roll and they do it well. A catchy name, holey jeans, long hair, an obvious disregard for the well being of their instruments, a knee sliding guitar solo, and even a pare of bare feet, this trio on the outside is the definition of the Red River rock 'n roll revival, but ontop of that they really do rock. Catchy enought to pay attention to but not enough to be cynical about, the songs (the few of them there were) left the sparse, first set crowd begging for more. All told they packed more of a hard pimp slap then a punch. I can't put my finger on what, but I am definitely looking forward to more from these guys.

==================================== Have you ever been to one of those shows where immediately after you feel the need to see your doctor about ear cancer? Well, this show was one of those shows. On a whim, I dropped by Redrum, the barn-like venue downtown, to see what they had in store for the night. Grunge must be back with a helping of thrasher, because the show's opener, Street Light Suzie, kicked off a night of successful ear bleeding. After the show, all my ears wanted to hear was a soft ukulele played two blocks away by a person with no fingers.Street Light Suzie is a throaty, thrasher, murky hardcore trio from in town. When the guitarist struck his first chord, it shot across the room, jabbed through my temples, and triggered my laughter. It was all downhill from there. The bass boomed so loud that it drowned out the guitar and vocals, thereby ruining any musicality. I couldn't understand the lyrics, and since I was too afraid to ask, I just waited for another hint. Luckily, I caught the name of their--ahem--best song, "Firedance." (STREET LIGHT SUZIE NOTE: The fuckin song was called Fire ants!) The guitar riffs correlated to the drum beats in a question-answer manner with punch, creating the image of dancing fire. This wasn't enough to stop my face from melting off, though.The guitarist/vocalist was doing most of the work: singing, dancing, falling down, soloing. The drummer and the bassist seemed to live in their own worlds, sounding more like they were reading music and playing together instead of performing as a band and creative force. However, I gave the bassist points for whipping his hair around like he was in a vortex.Aside from biting my lip at some points and thinking of a quiet snowy cabin in the woods at others, there were a few surprises. Once, during an awkward silence between songs, the drummer pitched his drumstick across the room. We, the small audience of six, watched it soar through the air and smack the empty ground. No one went to go pick it up. . At this point, I was ready to ditch this band and walk the distance to see Yellowcard at Emo's--and I can't stand Yellowcard.Then something amazing happened. It was the end of the set, and the guitarist/vocalist hurled his guitar across the room. It hit the floor and bounced, but no breakage just yet. Thrasher Guy leaped off stage, and in fury and rage, picked up the poor instrument by its neck and attempted to smash it again. Target remains. Thrasher Guy then took one last try, and obliterated that six string to next Tuesday. This was awesome for two reasons: 1) it shattered into a thousand pieces, and then everyone laughed 2) it marked the end of the worst 45 minutes my ears have ever endured. On a Monday.I seemed to be the only one not enjoying the show. Ear plugs? Neh, I'm just going to quit thrasher music cold turkey--doctor's orders.goodnight, i'm Vickie "hey, that girl has coconuts on her pants!" Anne
