We had such a short time in Sri Lanka but we tried to enjoy it to the fullest. We made a serious trek by taxi and later by bus to the city of Kandy-a little touristy, a little grime, a little excitement-before flying to London. Here are some pics from the markets, the lake, and from a crazy ass bus ride.
Korea Korea. The nicest people in the world are South Korean. Perhaps not a country that I will visit again soon, but one that I truly respect and enjoyed visiting. The camping was awesome.
More Japan pics!I really love Japan! I wish that I could spend months and months here. I also wish that I had time to share some stories to go along with some of these photos. Perhaps another time. Until then here are some more pics from our trip. We've taken all local trains around Northern Honshu from the east coast to the west coast and the snowy mountains in between. Then we spent all day yesterday walking around in the snow/rain checking out the very cool temples and shrines in Nikko. Enjoy friends!
First day in Japan and watching Japanese baseball on the telly!! I got awesome & cheap tickets for all local trains and made it from the airport to Tokyo station and then north to Koriyama. We are staying in this 'business men's' hotel: code for nice hotel in booby district. I can't read anything on the signs except booby. The donuts aren't anything special but the soba at the subway hits the spot. Going north all the way to Hokkaido before heading south to catch the ferry to South Korea. I'll post more when I can. Here are some last few photos taken from New Zealand before departing two days ago. Got seriously scared out of mind from the turbulence heading to Tokyo. Hope that you enjoy.Only two weeks left in New Zealand after a couple of fabulous months of hitchhiking through most of the south island of the country with a little introduction to the north island on the beginning and ending of the journey for good measure. We've taken thousands of pics so this is an overdue batch uploading if you're interested in seeing some of the country through our lens. They include: our ridiculously overpriced cruise of the Doubtful Sound, the huge dog that bit Laramie in the ass, my emotional moment with the kauri trees, crazy bridges, awesome ocean views, and the perfect kiwifruit. Enjoy!
Christmas Eve in Arizona with Laramie's family.
My birthday trip in the desert from Vegas to Arizona. It snowed at 2000 ft. in Nevada and rained in Phoenix. My kind of day!! This cat, Rascal, is one day going to be mine!! I plan on cat-napping him when we get back to the U.S. He loved our geography game creation. On a sadder note, Hoover Dam pics are here just to show how much man can forget the rules of nature. The water is down 80 ft.
Holiday time in Vegas with my wonderful parents. Got to visit Red Rock and Mt. Charleston and even got Laramie to face his aversion to gambling with a visit to the strip...neon lights, slot machines, and all.A great visit to the bay area! Plus new hiking buddies that we're grateful to have for the next time around. Thanks for the pics Rommel & Rebecca!
Just hiked to two beautiful waterfalls here: Hedge Creek and Mossbrae. There is even a natural soda spring where I found myself grinning with a seemingly endless supply of the freshest soda water I've ever tasted. Yum. Here is just a sampling of the hike.
A hike to the top of Castle Crags...nearly 7,000 ft. up! Legend has it that there is a hidden fortune of gold somewhere in a cave here. The entire story can be found in the San Francisco Chronicle of 1951, but I'll summarize it to say that if it does exist, it should just stay there. Another view from the top.
We hiked to the top of this dome!
Halloween!! Laramie and I represented our takes on Halloween Hallucinations and we tried to dress as the cause and effect couple. He: The Pink Elephant. Me: The Absinthe Green Fairy. See what can be done with tape, fabric, needles & yarn, and serious mental deficiencies! Along with our fabulously dressed friends (including the sun and moon not shown) the evening was great.
We went on a very serious mission to get this submerged bike out of the rushing river. It was serious work, but we were handsomely rewarded!

Thanks to Shannon's impeccable taste in reads I just finished The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down. And also got to read 2 of the PostSecrets compilations. Check out the link if you'd like to know what it's all about, too! http://postsecret.blogspot.com/
