Mmmmmm yummy picture (wish I had the poster hanging over my bed... so sensual!) Oh... wait, got a little distracted there. Let's see... in a nutshell I'd like to meet very open-minded intelligent people who have similar interests to mine (especially Paganism, BDSM and Polyamory), who are in touch with their emotions and spirituality, and use all their 6 (yes I said 6) senses!

Music:

As you may have already read, I declined from listing my favorite movies, as I could not possibly name ALL of them and feared forgetting those of particular note. I feel the same about music. It seems easier to list what I don't care for, rather than to try to list everything I do love so much.

My one biggest regret is that I did not receive any guidance in the arts when I was a child. My life would have turned out so differently, if a parent or teacher had recognized my inherent talent and affinity for singing. I was such a little ham as a child (before I learned to be ashamed of my body), and would put on little singing acts for Mom, Dad and friends. The first "adult" song I remember memorizing by heart was Moon River. Whenever I hear that song, I'm overwhelmed with nostalgic images of my first 8 innocent years of life, which were spent in perfection on top of a hill, near a forest, pond, and stream, in an idyllic little town in Tennessee.

Later, when I was offered the opportunity to learn an instrument, I should have been guided towards the choir. Instead I chose the flute because my best girlfriend chose the flute, and because (conveniently) we had a flute at home. (My sister also played flute and had abandoned it.) That one decision led to a completely different unfolding of my artistic expression. Yes, I became a good flute player, but later when in high school, I finally began to recognize where I really wanted to be... on the stage singing, not in the orchestra pit playing my flute. But by that time, I was fully immersed as a band kid (orchestra, symphony band, community band, and marching band). It was far too late to defect to choir! After high school my opportunities to express myself musically diminished until they were no more than a distant memory. The flute was sold to pay the rent, and I continued to harbor a longing in my soul to vocally express myself... which I did only in the car with the radio, alone with my albums, or sometimes tentatively whenever someone brought out a guitar at a party. Whisperings like "she's good," "gee you sing well," fueled that fire burning in my chest. Then a miracle... karaoke! lol... yes, I because addicted the very first time I got up in front of people and sang. I became a karaoke kueen, and many bowed down before me chanting "we are not worthy!" lol... where do you think the "diva" nickname came from anyway????? My friends started calling me that, and it just sorta stuck!Once my enthusiasm for karaoke waned, I found myself dissatisfied with the limited venue and still wanting for more ways to express myself. I did a few musical plays, and even auditioned for, and was accept in, our local community chorus (one of the best in the state, I can proudly and accurately state). But still, that is not enough... I fear I will never be totally and blissfully in my element until I'm zipped into that sequined dress and stepping up to that mic in some smoky little piano bar. They say you are never happy at your work until you are doing what you love... well singing is what I love, right down to my toes!!!I listen (and sing along) to lots of different types of music. I tend to enjoy those wonderful ballad singers like Sara McLachan (just one of many possible examples). I listen to words, I feel the lyrics mixing with the music, I feel so much and that feeling is what I wish to express. Imagine a chanteuse or torch-song singer, or even folk singer, and that could be me.Now for dancing? That's a completely different issue. I only get happy feet when I hear a rhythm I just can not resist! And then, of course, there is music for seduction, sex, relaxing, scening, sadness... music for every occasion and mood.Seems I've said enough on this subject for now... probably ALL belongs in a BLOG!! lol Suffice it say, I LOVE MUSIC WITH EVERY CELL OF MY BEING!!

Movies:

Gosh, I like almost anything, and to attempt to list my favorites would mean leaving out so many others. I know I don't like movies that are so stupid and bad, that you can't even enjoy them because they are so stupid and bad! lol Anyway, suffice it say that my favorite movie list is long and varies from mainstream to indies and foreign, cult to classics, brit grit to chick flicks, and musicals (yes, I'm a sucker for a good old-fashioned musical - was raised on them!). I REALLY enjoy good horror flicks, and movies that veer from the normal path and end up surprising me! If I walk away FEELING something, profoundly touched, then I've seen something worth my time. My Netflix queue is always full. I'm delighted that my son also really enjoys movies (especially horror). We always have great analytical discussions about them. I can pretty much count on getting excellent recommendations from him to add to my Netflix queue. You go Kenneth - yo mama's proud of u!

Television:

I'm not much of a TV watcher. If on my own, I tend to tune in only to watch movies The Discovery Channel, and The Animal Planet! However, since the computer is next to the TV, well I get some TV via osmosis! I've found I enjoy the following shows: Boston Legal, Pushing Daisies, Medium, Law and Order, CSI, Ellen DeGeneres, Lost, Inside the Actor's Studio. We don't have any premium channels, so we have to wait and catch the best HBO and Showtime shows on DVD. I recently watched the entire Firefly series, in addition to the 2005 movie Serenity. Top-notch television there... of course it was canceled! sigh... Plus, I loved the Twin Peaks series and was home home faithfully each week to catch it on TV when it first aired.

For those who are wondering, I live with my sister in our house.

Books:

Books are my life-blood! Without them I'd be totally bereft. Books have always been there for me, for as far back as I can remember. I started reading at an early age, and would always take the maximum number of books out of the library (I think it was 7) each 2-week period. I literally devoured them, and couldn't wait to check out the next 7. I escaped my child-hood troubles by delving into make-believe lives and adventures. I've never stopped reading, even at my most depressed or most busiest. And I've collected a valuable library of first editions.
I developed a strong love for horror fiction early on in life, and was there when Stephen King was just starting out, and am still there as he is somewhat winding down (... was shocked to find out how close we were to losing a fine author of so much more than just horror fiction, and dreaded the possibility he would never finish his epic Dark Tower series - which he thankfully has). King is my number one favorite and I will defend his right at the top of the literary heap to my death! lol... ok, that's a bit extreme. Close on King's tails are other authors like Peter Straub, Anne Rice, Brian Lumley, Clive Barker, Tim Robbins, Laurell K Hamilton, Patrick Suskind, Poppy Z. Brite, Dean Koontz, Michael McDowell, Jack Ketchum... and more. Ok, that's enough gushing for now... where are my reading glasses?

Favoite Quotes:
"Before you can get into a woman's bed, you first must get into a woman's head!”
"Any fool can hit me with a two-by-four, but it takes a real genius to make me like it!"
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body.......but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"
"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching. Sing like nobody's listening. Live like it's Heaven on Earth"

Heroes:

Heroes... not a topic I consider often. Of course, when I was little girl, my daddy was my hero. As an adult, I don't think I really have any. I DO admire those people who go after what they want and stand up for what they believe. Standing up for what you believe, being willing to be unpopular... those are the people that change our world! I admire Ellen DeGeneres - just for being so delightfully human, funny, and brave!
