I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm tall. I'm thin. I wear glasses. I read a lot and watch a lot of movies. I never smoke and rarely drink (preferably wine). I live in Chicago even though I pretty much hate everything about it. Probably not weird and arty enough for the weird arty crowd, definitely too weird and arty for everyone else. Big fan of the point where pop and avant-garde meet, punch each other in the face for a while, then decide that it's not worth fighting and go get a milkshake together. I think Indian food is the best food ever invented. I read comic books and I call them 'comic books' instead of 'graphic novels' or whatever it is the kids are calling them these days. My favorite Marx Brother is Harpo. My favorite Beatle is George. I wish more people watched Doctor Who. I'm great to have around for useless trivia concerning pop culture from the 60s through the 80s, but blissfully unaware of what's hip these days. I'd like to live in a lighthouse far far away from crowds, watching movies, reading books, writing densely-worded horror fiction inspired by my childhood fear of hobos, playing my theremin, and maybe saving a few ships from crashing on the rocks. Maybe.

more fun with Shadow Comics...

Seriously, the fact that I don't currently have a stack of phone book-sized collections of these things is a violation of my civil rights:

DEVILS OF DARKNESS (1965)/WITCHCRAFT (1964)

MGM's long-dormant Midnite Movies line came back from the dead this September to the delight of, well, probably lots of folks over 30, and not much of anyone else. Damn kids today with their cellphone...
