Haircuts That Hurt

About Me

HTH started back in 1996 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The original lineup was Mike Petty (current singer and guitarist), Derek Payne on drums, and Crazy Ben on bass. After playing around town for a few months, Derek changed schools and I guess Crazy Ben wasn't that crazy after all because he left the band for law school. Alex Herrlein picked up the bass and brought along Nate Caulkins to play drums. This was the lineup (I think) that we did our first recording with. It was a 4-track demo that included the songs "Johnny Law", "327", and "Nowherre Fast". After Alex and Nate graduated, Pete Bell grabbed the bass and the almighty Turbo rocked the drums. This was the lineup that we really started plyaing out with. We did a few more demos but no official recordings until Dave Delozier (Dee Dee) replaced Pete. We recorded a four song cd engineered by Chris Courtelou that included the songs "My Big Break" and "I'm A Good Neighbor". After Oxford, we relocated to Cincinnati and shot over to Lafayette, Indiana to record a four song ep at the legendary Sonic Iguana with Donnie Switchblade engineering and Mass Giorgini mastering. Jeremy King from Blitzkrieg Sucker Punch (Dead City Rejects) joined on second guitar and we recorded "Haircuts That Hurt Get Trim Coordinated", which was a compilation of the Oxford sessions, as well as The Sonic Iguana songs, and our self recorded material. We toured the Midwest and East Coast and recorded a live album at CBGB. Dee Dee and I moved to Seattle and Tony Rodriguez rocked the drums and played on the recordings "Haircuts That Hurt Feel Like Shit But Look Great" and "Here Today...Gone Today". Tony moved on and Troy Lund, who we had played with in Bottle Of Smoke (Pogues tribute) picked up the sticks. We have since recorded another live album at The Mars Bar in Seattle and are currently working on a new studio album. Stay tuned!
