MyGen Profile GeneratorMy name is Joyce Minks. I am from Sierra Madre, CA where I spent 5 years as the Candy Striper President at the community Hospital. I rode horses everyday. In fact, I lived, dreamed and breathed horses more than you could ever imagine. I was way WAY into dance. My next-door neighbor was a Russian Ballerina with a studio in her home so I took lessons from her off and on for years. In highschool I was in Dance Production, Honorary Dance Club Orchesis, and Advanced Dance Classes. I even "lettered" in Dance. Dance kept me in school which I otherwise hated back then. My first car was a 1976 Datsun Pick up Truck ... Yellow, lowered and really cool (at the time it was THE THING to drive) After High School, I earned my Cosmetology License and went to work doing hair. I worked for Stormin Norman then worked at Long Hair Rocks and worked on lots of long haired rockers and stars. It was an interesting time mid 80's with the glam rock being near Hollywood and all. Finally, when LHR got a little strange (Numerology weirdness)I moved on and Became a Bartender. It was probably my nitch. I really enjoyed it and stayed with it for over 12 years. I booked music and entertainment, managed a Bar and Did Marketing and Promotions for a majorly cool night club. I was not a drinker and was pretty successful. I decided I wanted more in my life and went to school to become an Emergency Medical Technician, got a job with American Medical Response and absolutely LOVED the excitement and fulfillment of helping people when they needed it most. I met Doug in September 1999 and moved to Houston Texas and married him in 2000. We were blessed with our wonderful little angel Jayda in 2001. We moved to Washington in August 2001 and welcomed our darling little Brielle in 2002. I was a stay at home Mom while Doug was working at Quest Communications. Since then, our little family has hit some rough spots with Doug having some terrible back and neck problems and a few unsuccessful surgerys. He recently had a total knee replacement. He lives with severe pain on a constant basis and can no longer work at all. So back to work I was to go... but I am not certified as an EMT here in WA. But, my Heavenly Father (with the help of Howard Shultz) dropped a Starbucks right near my house (so that I could easily check in on Doug and the girls. Starbucks has been such an amazing blessing to us. I work with awesome people and have made some GREAT Friends and best of all, I feel as though I've found a nice place to put down roots for my family

My Interests

Doug would like to meet Jesus, but I'd like to wait a while for that!So I asked him again and he gave me a list of people that he has already met like: Mohammad Ali (I met him too at the same time!) He's met lots and lots of Astronauts take my word for it ...He's from Houston, Ya know. He finally decided he'd like to meet Bill Gates. As far as serious Dweebs go... he's cool.Me? I think it would be awesome to meet Elton John.. I think he would be so fun to go shoe shopping with. Maybe he'd let me borrow a tiara to wear to lunch. I love Elton John. So does my husband. Not that there's anything wrong with that!!!!!Starbucks Head Honcho Howard Shultz is also due a hug from me, so Howard is on my list too!

Let's see... Doug likes ALL of the StarWars movies... ALOTI have my OLD stand- by favs... An Affair to Remember... which then one must follw with Sleepless in Seattle. Mother, Jugs and Speed made me want to drive ambulances when I was very young. Officer and a Gentleman... especially since one of the actors looks remarkably like my hubby.The Big Chill and one of my all time favorites (because it reminds me of my friends and me growing up) Now and Then.Jayda's favorite movie is Cinderella and Little MermaidBrielle's favorite is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Beauty and the Beast and Bambi.They both love the Barbie Movies... What a great week!
