Jeff Tuohy

About Me

Jeff Tuohy is the kind of guy who will talk to anyone in a bar. From that old man glued to his seat alone in the corner to the young female bartender who blushes when he cracks a smile, Tuohy’s just good at relating to people. And it’s that same warm, unrestrained sincerity and daring that comes through in his songwriting and live performance. A seasoned actor and front man, he emerges as a devout crowd pleaser. With beads of sweat on his face and an earnest longing in his eyes, Jeff Tuohy gives it his all each time – sharing life’s ups and downs through compelling, upbeat sets. It’s raw, a bit gritty, and it’s the passion missing from so many singer-songwriters today – a performance style that lovers of live music truly appreciate. With emotional honesty, his music shines through his own blend of heart-on-his-sleeve lyrics put to driving, passionate guitar and a hard-hitting rhythm section. Journalists and industry insiders refer to him as “A Musical Chameleon” because his catchy, memorable blend of Rock/R&B refreshingly manages to evade perfect categorization. The self-released debut, “Breaking Down the Silence” made its way into indie stores across the country and rapidly gained airplay at 100+ Triple A and college radio stations throughout North America; meeting positive reviews from national media including Performing Songwriter, Glide, and Amplifier along the way. Over the past two years, he has toured nationally, sharing bills with: The Black Crowes, Natasha Bedingfield, The Academy Is…, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Tim Reynolds, and Howie Day. 2009 will see the release of “Cocoon,” an album featuring 12 fresh, original compositions. It is safe to say this effort is more diverse than the first. Co-produced by the artist and Danny Bernini (NRBQ, Sonya Kitchell, Spooky Daly Pride, Acoustic Junction), it features performances by Tower of Power/SNL’s Lenny Pickett, NRBQ’s Terry Adams, up and coming drummer- Josh Dion, and Jon Graboff of Ryan Adams and The Cardinals.
