Stalking Tyler

About Me

Stalking Tyler are an English Rock band hailing from the seaside town of Seaton in Devon and have been playing together for about 2 years now and received some small time local fame. Guitarist Brian Curry and drummer Josh Ledger decided to start playing together after rediscovering a shared taste in music at an inspiring “Patrick Wolf” gig in Exeter. Bonding over a love of the simple things they started out jamming to tracks by bands such as “The Libertines” and “Radiohead”. However it wasn’t until they met front man Tom Lewis at a sordid beach party with doughnuts that things could really kick off.
Now they could start to make their own songs, which would eventually be shoddily recorded with a cheap microphone on a slow and laborious computer. The first of these being “Neon Lights” which today remains one of the band’s most popular songs. Bassist Hallie is said to have this song and applied for an audition through a friend. The band had tried many bassists previous to this but none had been able to fill the position as well as Hallie. Already a talented bassist, he had the style and personality as well- he was in.
Now the foursome could continue to make music that they love based on the song writing partnership of Tom Lewis and Brian Curry. They took the term “garage-rock” to a new level as practises took place in Josh’s dingy grotty garage, infested by spiders and allsorts. This was their home from home. More often than not practises would be replaced by late nights and headaches, until the floor is sopping from the spills and they were knee deep in ash- but this only binds them all closer and closer.
As time went on they managed to build up a collection of songs and started to play small gigs in their hometown. Already a small fan base began to grow and they decided to reward this by going into Coombeshead recording studios to record their first 4 track ep- number 46. This was soon followed by their next 8 track CD “All Doors Are Open” recorded at the same place. Word was spreading of Stalking Tyler and the bands were rewarded with bigger and bigger gigs and chances to play local festivals. This was even followed up by some small record label interest in London, but as of yet nothing further has happened.
In 2007 the band then went to “April Media Productions” in Plymouth to record again. They managed to get 14 tracks done in 2 days which make up their album “Laissez-Faire.” Since then singer Tom has been pushed off to University so the band do not have as much time to practise as they used to.
