About Me



Established in 2005, Sarinda String Quartet has earned a reputation around the Austin/San Marcos area for their broad spectrum of musical styles and genres ranging from Bach to Shania Twain, their lush sound and musicality, their collaboration with Texas State University and local composers and artists, and their love and dedication to their art. Sarinda is made up of two violins, a viola, and a cello. The members are currently music majors at Texas State University. They are also the principal players of the Texas State Symphony Orchestra. Throughout their career, Sarinda has performed in numerous weddings, luncheons, parties, and many other special occasions.
Sarinda premiered Music fur vier Instrumente: in memoriam ‘Lied der Moorsoldaten’ by Hanning Schroder in the United States in February of 2006. In November of 2007, Sarinda also performed Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and Orchestra accompanied by the Texas State Symphony Orchestra.
Sarinda is an advocate for modern music. Various pieces have been written for Sarinda. These composers include: Matthew Toleman, Mark Ackerly, Dr. Charles Ditto, Christopher T. Hanson, and Lucas Ross. Every year Sarinda participates in Mysterium for Modern Music and the Texas State Composition Competition. They perform pieces written for them as well as string ensemble pieces.
Sarinda has performed for Texas State University for many special occasions including: the Texas Women in Higher Education Conference Opening Reception, PSH Lunchen, Retired Faculty and Staff reception, Faculty Authors reception, etc. Sarinda also performs for Dr. Trout’s, the president of Texas State University, private events and parties.
