About Us
Southern Rip is comprised of numerous local youths in the South West area, with an age range of around 15 to 25. Our group is open to anyone interested in working on exciting new projects to benefit themselves by gaining skills or by providing something new to the community and their peers.
Everyone who is a part of Southern Rip works as a team to achieve our set goals. We are all volunteers, but we still gain so much out of it. We are here to learn some awesome new things and most importantly HAVE FUN!
If you are under 25 and are interested in getting involved with the local community, Southern Rip is the perfect forum. In our group we hold some high achieving youth representatives who are well known and have a voice in our area.
What We Do
music :: art :: design :: promotional :: festivals :: concerts :: road-trips :: entertainment :: communication :: skills :: theatre :: community service :: networking ::FUN!!!More like: what don’t we do! Southern Rip provides young people the opportunity to develop their own ideas and projects while gaining valuable skills in the process. We work closely with local business and community groups who offer their services in return for ours.
Some of our projekts include:+ Crank It Up
This is the name of our main music events! We hold from 4-5 Crank It ups a year, selling between 250 – 350 tickets each show. These events provide us with a range of skills plus it’s a perfect opportunity for our local talent to gain some experience in a comfortable environment. Our concerts give local young bands the exposure they need to start getting into the music industry, and it gives us the skills how to run music events.
+ The Lounge
Another one of our music events, unlike a concert, “The Lounge†has that more chilled out feel, like a café. The whole concept of the lounge is to target a completely different audience to our other music concerts, and also give us some skills related to the hospitality industry.
