Date: Nov 17 2006 9:31 PMThe NYDM has a long history. If you want to know the whole story,, it goes like this.Way back in the late 80's a crew of brothers and sisters formed SVDC. It stood for Spring Valley Death Crew and sometimes refered to as the Spring Valley Death Core. This crew included people like Mike and Billy Simmons, Mike Dejesus, Randell Decomposed, Jeff Riemer, Matt Harshner, Matt Sicher, Prentice Polk, Jeff Baulk, Dan Silverman, Adam, Terry, ect... ect... and all the girls, April, Steph, Fran, both Lynn's, Tabby... ect, ect....... Anyways, this crew in 1990 and 1991 began going in different directions. So a large part of the original crew remained and SVDC became the Spring Valley Dust Crew and the rest became what is still even today known as NYDM - New York Death Metal. Underground giants like Mortician were touring the world spreading the gospel way back as early as 1987. Will Mortician was the first to bring our scene to an International level while touring the world.Now during this period between 1989 and 1992 so many others were brought into the scene including the merging of the Rockland scene with Westchester County and NYC. AND JUST INCASE YOU WANT TO LOOK FOR YOURSELF, CHECK THE VERY FIRST MORTICIAN DEMO IN 1990 AND YOU WILL SEE MATT SICHER FROM ROCKLAND COUNTY AND WILL MORTICIAN FROM YONKERS WITH THE NYDM LOGO UNDERNEATH THEIR NAMES. I was one of those to climb on board back then. We were the ones to put on the first Death fest in our area. Bands like Suffocation, Incantation, Decomposed, Mortician, Morpheus, Prime Evil and many more. A total of 18 bands, a beer truck, our own security staff and the whole deal. Shit, we even built the damm stage. This is oldschool as shit right there. The scene here in Rockland was also the home for not only Decomposed (Randell Decomposed) and nearby yonkers legends Mortician (Will Mortician) but Rockland also gave birth to the original Mutilation (Randell Decomposed, Dante Scioscia, Jeff Riemer), Necrophilia (Prentice Polk, Joe Hollow), Sadistic Ritual, Malicious Onslaught, At all cost, Monoxide and in 1992 Hollow (Joe Hollow). We were also the hometown for Dream Theatre and members of Anthrax among many others. Some of us like Rockland brother Rob Moschetti toured the world with M.O.D. and Propain. So many stories from back in the day. I just want to give you a fast history lesson. I hope this will help explain things and give you a better vision of us and who we really are. I myself was raised by this group. Randell Decomposed and Jeff Riemer more so than others but in general the whole scene was the source of my education in the early years. When I was 13 years old I left home and lived in Randells house first among many other short stories I could tell you. Anyway, I spent most of my time during the birth of the NYDM scene while living at Jeff Riemers house. Shortly after all this going on here in 1990 and 1991, I went my way with my work in Hollow and the recording industry and along with many others the scene here in Rockland kind of suddenly dissappeared. But, the core never died. Guys like Mike Dejesus, Jeff Wolfe, Dante Scioscia, Randell Decomposed and Will Mortician among many others with all due respect, continued to support the scene and go to the shows and tour the underground. this is the core of what eventually became the NYDM as its known today. There finally came a day when Will Mortician, Randell Decomposed and Lucifera Endemoniada sat down and structured what became the official start of NYDM - the New York Death Militia. It was a completely seperate entity from what was before. Will and Randell the founders of the club would become the NYDM International presidents over all members and leaders which include mena nd women both. Lucifera Endemoniada would then become the NYDM International president and take leadership in building the womens coalition.This is the how the club was born. With it the International party was structured and then the NYC chapter. Our first chapter presidents would be Jimmy Duff the NYDM: NYC president, Tomas Pascual would become the NYDM: NYC vice president and Bridget Malone would become the NYDM: NYC womans president. It is still the same today.As time went on this crew would remain the same and they set up chapters around the world with underground legends like Jeff Beccera from Possessed in California. Then in the beginning of 2006 I was surfing through myspace and found long time brother of 16 years Will Mortician on myspace. Then I found long time brother of 23 years Randell Decomposed. What I saw here was a sleeping giant!! And while Lucifera was giving me the knowledge I needed, Randell and I began instantly discussing the Rockland chapter. It would start with all brothers from the oldschool. All of us wear the 15 year patch. It would act as an International weapon to be instrumental in the growth of the NYDM family. And soon following would be a campaign that would in the end see over a dozen new chapters, the birth of the NYDM International street team and 2 major NYDM International gatherings that would see members from all over the United States, Canada, and Portugal. NYDM as a family working together looks to be successful in its vision to strengthen the scene in unity through brotherhood and sisterhood. An NYDM empire that spans the face of the globe. The start of the 2007 new year will see the births of NYDM: North Florida and South Florida, England, Italy, Brazil, Phillipines, and the New England Regional chapter among others.So thats the story. Now we have many working like myself across the globe as one giant machine. The biggest damm metal club in the world!!! The rest of the story all you guys can finish writing. Its a family. Not about one person or any small group of people. Its a worldwide effort being made and the results are felt not only in our lives but now also on many other walks of life. Some out there see us as heros. That is the part I like. We are a family working hard towards strengthening and preserving the scene we grew up in and love with a passion.the next chapter has yet to be written..., maybe someday when were long gone, someone will write about us and remember us for who and what we were.
