Rico Jose Cintron AKA “Rico J” or Mr.Suave was born in Oakland California in 1989. Rico represents a hand full of ethnic backgrounds therefore he's well rounded and grounded to his roots. Being part Filipino, Puerto Rican, and African American, he carries three parts of the world in his out-going character, so many seem to easily relate.
As a teenager he focuses his attention on organizing school functions and leading the school's drum line in practices and performances. His big heart also leads him to give a lot back to the community hardly seen in others his age. Rico J still volunteers by mentoring his old Chipman Middle Schools Cadet Corps ( an organization thats mission statement is to motivate youth to become better citizens and to develop their CREATIVE abilities) . He also leads them in street performances in San Francisco wowing hundreds of crowds with choreographed drum line routines raising money to help support the year funds and expenses, as well as competitions around the U.S. Again, his God given ability to control music and crowds like a verbal composer is proven in the studio, stage, or streets. Joining with his Best friend Aldrin Payopay (Also known as Drino man) they made a new style of hip hop/Rap/R&b/Techno all combined in one.
He grew up jamming to his mom’s R&B and 80’s classics as well as his sister’s old school rap tape collections. He was introduced to the saxophone at an early age of ten and when he got to middle school he remembers picking up some drum sticks for the very first time. Rico explains how he just began banging on pots and pans, walls and floors, and eventually some real drums. His goal is to be to leave a legacy and be remembered for all the positive things he’s doing in his life.
