reared on the North Shore of Boston...despite being neck and neck with the real smarties in Grades 1-6, I never really cottened to extra school work(esp. after the 8th grade) but was a rabid reader anyway and 'buff' of the fine arts...excellent athlete esp. basketball and hockey...and MAD extreme concert-goer and after I started earning some extra scratch washing dishes, lots of records and 8 tracks...moved to Boston in 1983 shortly after landing a govt. day gig thru nepotism, met freaks, started bands, quit goverment gig in 85, didn't work jobs, started touring as a roadie(with Christmas, Big Dipper and some lost weekends w/ Volcano Suns) and driving a cab circa 86...started playing drums with Conrad Capistran, Todd N, Gary Waliek, Glenn Jones, Phil Milstein, Jeff Mooney, Dennis Chalifore (?) and various other fly-by-nighters before hitting the studio with both Mommy and Crush (then, due to a legal snafu w/ siouxsie and the Banshees, the name became Crush Sr.) in 87/88... people started asking for tunes to release, singles appeared, met Anne Slinn,Bob Weston, Mark Perretta, Lou Barlow,Jason Loewenstein,Eric Matthews, Richard Davies and had swell times with all of them in Sebadoh,unconvinced, Cardinal and Deluxx,Beltbuckle,etc...more 45's, 12 EP's/LP's followed from all of the above...did not need a day gig for nearly 8 years due to the growing payday w/ Sebadoh, which then bit the dust in March 97...moved to LA in Oct. 97, fell in love w/ Lei Swanson, played in numerous bands for short degrees (Heavy Drapes,The Tyde, Blue Stripe) or longer outings (Straight to Video, Indignataries), blew nearly all my dough on 'futures', found typical employment in 1999, got married in 2001, moved back to MA with six month pregnant Lei in late 2003, found better-benefited (for the fam) employment, and enjoyment w/ Penelope Rose Fay(b. 11/21/03) and new pals in the happy valley of Nohopeton, er, Northampton...Dexter Eli (b. 12/15/06) makes four not including the cats
