Christian has been involved in the underground scene of Cinti. & NKY since before the turn of the century. As vocalist, electronic percussionist and sometimes bass player in psychedelic/goth/pop band Chivalrous Dogs (January, 1999-November, 2000) he has appeared with such international luminaries as the Damned (UK), the Gathering (NL), & Babylonian Tiles (LA). Chivalrous Dogs played regularly with local/regional acts Chalk, Candy Afterlife and many others. Their sound was often compared to the Velvet Undergound, the Doors, Dead Can Dance, the Beatles (psychedelic era) & Tones on Tail/Love & Rockets.
Christian 'went solo' after the amicable demise of the Dogs to perform as Christian Zombie, recording his own backing tracks (4track analog-no PC cut & paste here!) & performing bass & vocals live. He hosted the premier performance of Elation (featuring Amy Ketchum) & again supported psych/goth pioneers Babylonian Tiles (featuring THE HipDeathGoddess!) at the Historic Southgate House (also a regular haunt of the Chivalrous Dogs) in mid 2001.
In late 2001 Christian rejoined his Chivalrous Dogs bandmate Android (bass, synths, drums) to formulate Mystic Dub Star. This avant/dub/electronica band was then fleshed out by electronic music wizard Eightfold & guitarist/vocalist Nikol with Chistian (now traveling as DrXZombie) delivering heavy dub basslines. MDS had an ethereal, trance inducing sound that was warmly received by psychedelia, krautrock, electronica & dub fans alike. Reminiscent (to SOME listeners) of Squarepusher, Bill Laswell/Jah Wobble, the Velvet Undergound (again!) & Tones on Tail (whose tune 'Lions' they performed live), Mystic Dub Star shared stages with Rasputina, Animal Collective, Ogurusu Norihide and were featured in the first Cincinnati Fringe Arts & Music Festival (May 2004)playing Fountain Square with massive projected visuals by Big Bang Video Productions.
After performing with world/tribal/fusion ensemble the Totems, playing his signature dub/trance style bass & doumbek (Middle Eastern tabla) Christian performed with Early music ensmble MUSICA ANTIQUA. He Simultaneously formed MAYAN RUINS, a psychedelic/world band featuring DrXZombie on bass/doumbek with Derek (associate member/sound engineer/advisor) guitar & varied hand-drums, Denny (ex-totems) on varied hand-drums & percussion & an everchanging pool of talented musicians. DrXZombie was also privileged to perform with the first full line-up of KOMPRESSION (adding distictive handdrums to their unique DarkPop sound).
