Bloodseal

Hauntingly dark progressive metal

About Me

Bloodseal is a powerful, progressive rock trio who combine elements of heavy metal, progressive rock, alternative and classical music to create an excitingly new sound. Bloodseal gathers its primary influences from such bands as Iron Maiden, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Motörhead and Rush. Their style is very different from most of today’s rock/metal bands. Fans of Bloodseal often remark that the band is incredibly entertaining to watch due to outstanding playing ability, unique compositions and catchy songwriting. Bloodseal performs predominantly their own material, with a few rearranged cover songs by some of their aforementioned influences.
Bloodseal consists of bassist and vocalist Augustus Bludstone, guitarist Chris Dunnett, and percussionist Mark Daniel Fuller.
Augustus Bludstone…Vocals & Bass...Augustus is an aggressive, technically proficient player who combines a progressive style with more traditional bass lines. His sound, powerful and growling, is reminiscent of such bassists as Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Jack Cassidy and Lemmy of Motörhead. Augustus' vocals are quite unique---bordering on the power of a heavy metal vocalist, with an alternative and almost "haunting" tone. Lyrically, he is influenced by Michael Moorcock, Robert E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft, horror movies and other works of science fiction and fantasy. Past band projects have included opening for Big Brother & The Holding Co. (with the Richard Wood Band) and other national acts such as EZO, Chastain and Dirty Looks (with The Seventh Seal).
Chris Dunnett...Guitarist Chris Dunnett draws upon his knowledge of classical music, theory, and technique, combined with his love of "catchy melodies", to create a fiery and aggressive, yet melodic sound. His rapid movement through complex and obscure licks is incredibly entertaining. Among Chris’ major influences are Rik Emmett, Bach and Mozart. Chris’ previous band projects, including The Seventh Seal and Character, have received awesome reviews and radio airplay in Greece, Germany, England, France and Japan. He has been teaching guitar for nearly 25 years and has written articles for EQ and Recording Magazine. He has been written up in Guitar Player Magazine and has performed in may parts of the U.S., in Japan, and at an International guitar festival in Mexico. Chris placed in the top 8 among a sea of great guitarists who tried out for Lita Ford’s band in the late 80’s. His solo pieces have been featured on A&E Biography, Beach Patrol: San Diego, America’s Got Talent and various independent films and instructional videos.
Mark Daniel Fuller...Troll...A drummer since the age of 5; The Troll’s influences include John Bonham, Gene Krupa, Stewart Copeland, Carmen Appice, Jim Chapin, Ian Pace, Dave Weckl and Neil Peart. Always in the proverbial “pocket”, the Troll lays down heavy grooves, saving his excellent chops for when they serve the song. His lyrical influences include Alfred Lord Tennyson and Edgar Alan Poe. He has worked with Jason Smart and Liberty DeVitto, who described his drumming as “solid”. Encouragement from the likes of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson has been a source of dedication to his instrument and the music. He has played with numerous different styles of bands over the years from heavy metal to surf. Troll is also the original/current drummer in Augustus’ solo project, Bludstone, and plays in the punk band Clause 83, which also includes Augustus.
Bloodseal rocks!
