My interests these days are more of a relaxing nature. A good book or movie, time spent chatting with my friends and family, travel, and computer time reading blogs or playing games.....Now don't ask me why this is because I really could not give you an answer, but, I love to collect cookbooks even though cooking is not something I love doing. I do enjoy baking though, as well as whipping up casseroles and salads and desserts. I have a vast collection of cookbooks, with my favorites being old ones that I find at auctions or used bookstores. My favorite favorite cookbooks are the ones put together by churches or organizations. Those books have some of the best ever recipes, many of which I do whip up from time to time.....Being a Nana to my 5 year old grandson is the ultimate joy of my life. We live about 6 hours apart, but my daughter gives me daily stories and updates. Spending time with him is an exhausting and exhilarating experience that I would not trade for anything in this world!
When my time in this life ends, I will be anxious to meet my Paternal Great-Grandparents to finally once and for all get some answers to the Native American heritage that flows through the bloodline!..........In this life time, if I talk with you online, then I want to meet you! After getting to know a person online and corresponding with them for a while, those people are in every true sense of the word a friend and I want to meet them in real time. While I have met hundreds of people online only, it has been my pleasure to meet 60 or so of those people in real time. There have been no surprises or regrets in those that I have met. While my flying days are over, I still hope to continue to meet my online friends in person one day.
I think music is better for what ails you than any prescription drug on the market. It is an awesome mood elevator, very sensual for setting a romantic mood, and spiritually uplifting as it touches your heart and soul.....My favorite to listen to is classic oldies and gospel.
Time nor space allow me to list favorites as the list is almost endless. I love some of the old black and white movies, and I love westerns and old war movies. There is nothing to compare with one of those "feel good" movies that are often times referred to as "chic flics". Drama and mystery, and suspense movies rank right at the top of my list too. About the only genre of movies I don't like are the blood, guts, and gore thriller types. I also won't watch movies that have anything to do with demons or the devil, and I don't care much for "period pieces" like back in the 17th century type stuff.
Give me true crime or crime related programming and I am enthralled for hours on end. My favorite shows in order of preference are: Bones, Cold Case, NCIS, Shark, and the Court TV programs of Forensic Files, The Investigators, and of course, the live trials.....Networks that I watch a lot and like are A&E, Food Network, Hallmark, The Travel Channel, History Channel, and The Discovery Channel.....I mustn't forget also to mention I LOVE Boxing on HBO and Showtime!!
Mysteries, Suspense, True Crime, and Biographies. Mary Higgins Clark and John Patterson are my favorite fiction writers.....Perri O'Shaughnessy (two sisters who write under that pen name) and Lisa Gardner are also two authors whose works I very much enjoy reading.....Having grown up during the JFK era, I read most anything regarding the Kennedy family of that time. Books or articles about Grace Kelly are another must read for me.
Anyone who applies the line of Mr. Spock from Star Trek, "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one" into daily life.....Heroes whom I have the utmost respect for are our military men and women and that wonderful group of society known as our senior citizens.
