I am here for Friends

About Me

*********************
The first half of my life I spent getting an education. I was a better than average student with strength in art and literature. I was able to get a jump start on my college through a program at the Art Institute of Chicago at 15 and attended the University of Denver and finally, Knox College.
I enjoyed plenty of travel and have many wonderful friends over the years. I settled in Massachusetts for several years and met my huband there and moved to Colorado, where I had my two children. Hubbies hobbies escalated beyond all sensibilities, so I disolved the marriage and moved to Joliet, where I was born and had something of a network. I had jobs too numerous to list ranging from shipyard carpentry to tutoring PhD candidates.
For the next 20 years I raised my children on my own. Both girls developed mad multi-intrumental musical skills and chose excellent partners in life. Both are dedicated to results, not excuses. Life is good.
As an empty nester I occupy my time playing dulcimer, ukulele, and drumming at any opportunity. Uke and bodhran like me best. (Nothing frightens folks like a female with drums I've found, so I'm more prone to pull out the uke.) I have a passion for live music and attend everything from school band concerts to folk festivals. I also help with my Grand-daughter. I'm an internet junkie, and I love the Sims2.

Went to the animal control pound as those guys need all the friends they can get.  This guy rode in my lap for 30 miles without a carrier.  He's a dear little guy and still just a kitty at 9 months.  ...

Elopement and Evart

Another big month.  I'm broke as hell, but happy as I've ever been.  Daughter 1 eloped -- making for a stellar addition to the family.  When I took my first actual drum class, the rhyth...

LOL You know you're getting older when.....

You know you're getting older when not only you, but your children are not up for an hour of waiting in a line outdoors to possibly get turned away from a concert in a venue that is about 20' by 40'.&...
