Dae

About Me

Dae has been making music as long as she can remember. Her early musical aptitude is not surprising when one considers the musical background of her father: an aspiring guitarist with Sweet Cherry. Dae picked up many other instruments along her musical development including bass, hand percussion, and blossomed into a very talented vocalist. She continued her studies as an undergraduate at The University of Pittsburgh minoring in music, Active with The Heinz Chapel Choir and enjoying the rhythms of The African Drum Ensemble. She studied guitar with John Maione before leaving college and her band to travel to Europe. There Dae enrolled At Ejma-Ecole de Jazz et Musique Actuelle in Lausanne, Switzerland. She studied voice with Hiroko Thevoz and guitar with François Allaz. Ejma became such an influence on her music. The introduction to jazz opened a whole new world for Dae's songwriting and her musical experience as a whole. Dae has been featured on many internet sites , and is receiving airplay on several internet radio stations. She has also performed more than 100 shows locally in the Pittsburgh area, St. Augustine area, and uncountable shows across Europe. With 3 years of jazz vocal training behind her, Dae displays a vocal control and range uncommon for most acoustic rock musicians. Her Ejma experience also molds her distinctive compositional style, including the usage of jazz chording and voicings . Dae's pop influences include Jeff Buckley, Sheryl Crow, and John Mayer along with jazz greats like Billie Holliday, Nina Simone and Randy Crawford. Dae is currently recording her debut solo cd in which she is playing all the instruments. It is expected to be released by August 2008.
