About Me

in the summer of `05 this project emerged from the cool abyss smiling slyly and dressed impeccably. kris would crawl in through the open window into stately doig manor to find peteR calling up the spirit of el degas collect to the howling drone and whir of a child's chord air organ. after some pontification as way of greeting, they proceeded to commit a selection of song forms to a steam powered 8 track device with a broken record button and complicated manual written in sanskrit. pretending to mind their own business, neighbours, mysterious birds, and the guy with the greasy hair down the street with the motorcycle would let the wind blow in their carefully charted contributions. children, too excited to sleep, would knock on the door half expecting willy wonka himself to appear. tomato plants swayed gently against each other on the porch, the sweetness of their red fruit inexplicably increasing with the twist of reverb knobs on crackling tube amplifiers. peter also plays in kids these days and octoberman and was a guest of the mohawk lodge. kris has been a promiscuous musician during his life and has been a tenant of the mohawk lodge, where he met peteR during that project's prenatal period.then came jeremy...then jay and megan.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: jay arner, jeremy fisher, kristopher clarke hooper, megan mcdonald, peteR doig
Influences: easily put under the influence of women. we also like 20's/30's jazz and workin' tunes from the south. peteR really likes the 50's girl bands (the shirelles, the ronettes, dianna ross), motown, the beatles, creedence... and had an earnest interest in bands like firehose, swervedriver, the rheostatics, loreena mckennit (what ?... its totally true), uncle tupelo, palace music (wil oldham), son volt, wilco and superchunk as a teen in the early 90's and through his university years... i guess that may have influenced him a little. currently though, alotta rock and roll bands and folk, esp. the mohawk lodge, sun parlour players, hawksly workman, ladyhawk, niko case, and jim guthrie... but alternatively and mostly the CBC and AM oldies stations.
Type of Label: Major

in the next life, i'll be a sailboat... and if i awake in a sheltered bay and a ripple appears in the usual still water, i'll bet on a strong wind that day... that may even take me to china. ...
