Originally from Boston, Katina has rocked top South Florida venues for the past 9 years, and her playing experience now includes over 1,500 performances. She has been referred to as one of the harder-hitting rock bass players in the area, and her unusual combination of being a female bassist with a solid and aggressive bass-playing style has won her an enthusiastic following in the local music scene.
In May of 2006, Katina founded the band DIESEL, in which she is the bass player, back-up vocalist, manager and booking person. DIESEL is now thriving as one of South Florida's busiest and most successful working cover bands, performing at top venues such as Revolution Live, City Limits Delray, Dr. Feelgoods, Dicey Riley's, The Dubliner, Fat Cats, The Blue Martini, and many other excellent venues.
Previously, Katina was the bassist for Miami's LOCAL ALIEN, West Palm Beach's TRAILER HOWARD, Fort Lauderdale's MASPHIEN, and Fort Lauderdale's ANGRY PRAWNS. She has also worked as a fill-in bassist for the talented bands THE DRUIDS of Miami and The Datura Street Band of West Palm Beach.
She has also performed in original band competitions and showcases, with the local bands SIMPLE SPINE and SECOND NATURE, and her recording experience includes bass and backup vocal recordings at Local Alien Studios in Miami and Good Acid Recording in Fort Lauderdale.
Katina's equipment list includes the massive sound of a Gallien-Krueger RB800 amp a Carvin 15 and Hartke 2x10 and cabs. Alternatively, she uses a Carvin Redline 600-Watt bass head with the Carvin Redline 2x10 and 1x15 cabinets. Her bass (her baby) as she calls it, is an ESP Ltd Edition B-304 4-string neck thru bass with EMG-HZ pickups. She also uses a Schecter Diamond Series Elite 4-string neck thru bass and a Shure SM58 mic for backup vocals.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
