About Me

(NEWS: Dan is seeking a lead singer to finish the band's vocal tracks! Email him for info.)
Some history:
Once upon a time, Jersey Shore keyboard guy Dan O'Leary founded the cover/original band Emanon. (Yes, dumb name. He was young, let's move on.) Five years, 200 shows, one album, and several brushes with the music industry later, the band ran its course. Dan spent the next 10 years in various cover bands, all the while writing his quirky little pop-rock tunes. Looking for an outlet for these new songs, Dan started Crosstalk Club. (Sadly, his band names haven't gotten any smarter.) C/C has a rotating group of friends/members that will record an album, with demos of the upcoming tunes to be posted here. Only sporadic live shows for the moment, but that will change once the CD is out. Dan also continues his cover band career with the all-80s band AMETHYST. Come down to a gig and say hi. Dan is a member of the Red Bank Music Community, a nonprofit support group of songwriters and musicians with lots of free music-related activities.

Others have said:
'(Escape Plan) steals a few moves from the Barenaked Ladies and Morrissey playbooks, and scores without once removing tongue from cheek.' -- Playtunes' Who's New online review (2002)

'Billy Joel jams with Ben Gibbard with lyrics by Gary Larson' -- Charles Frey

'The Ramones and Ben Folds get together to write the next Cheap Trick album.' -- anon.

'...Vox's soft tenor and O'Leary's keyboards deliver upbeat poppy melodies that belie dark-absurd lyrics where people revel in ex-lovers' new heartaches or wish for social problems to be more like everyone else.' -- BasementBand live review (2006)

Under Cover(s) of the Night

Lately, in an attempt to jumpstart the right side of my brain, I've been using open mics to field-test some new song ideas. I usually throw one cover song in my set somewhere (it's in my blood, I gues...

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes...turn and face the strange

We've had a momentary detour in our progress. A sudden change hit the finances, and I've spent most of the last four weeks recording backing tracks for over a dozen songs for another local cover ban...

All we need is just a little patience.

Wow, he actually did it. "Chinese Democracy" is real. Bravo, Axl. I would've thought it was, in the words of Homer Simpson, "make-believe, just like elves, gremlins, and Eskimos." I'm talking about t...

Let the sun and light come streaming, into my life, into my life...

The light...it burns. I thought I'd break away from my dark corner, staring at my PC and recording software, to surface and check out the outside world for a bit. "Hi there, world, how have you been?...
