I grew up listening to fabulous music from an early age... through love for music and the want to impress my father I found myself learning and singing all the lyrics to Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Chris Rea, the chorus' of Dylan ! and Jimmy Hendrix albums from the age of about 8, I may have not always got the lyrics right- I think up until my teens I was singing- " Xcuse me while I kiss this guy" ... For those of you who don't know its - "Sky" ...!...
I have wonderful memories of road trips with my mum and brother bellowing out songs from the musicals... 'The Sound Of Music', 'Joseph', 'Phantom Of The Opera', 'Tommy' to mention a few of my favourites.
Music has always had an emotional and beautiful part to play in my life... I thank my mama for starting me off on the piano, seeing me through all the grades in ballet, tap, jazz and encouraging me into the local amateur dramatics society early. I reached grade 6 piano by the age of 11 (you can ask any pianist why I didnt continue past 6-) had basic guitar lessons early inspired by my mothers 'Joni Mitchelle style' singing and playing, gained top grades in most of my dance exams to advanced level and succeeded in gaining a place on the 3yr musical theater course, compliments of Lord Llyod Webber at Arts Educational... Having completed the course successfully encountering juicy leading roles in the final year with west end and braodway M.D's I found myself still hungry for creativity and passion of a different kind ... the singer songwriter/ performing kind ...Oh... What a want ! Ha !!!
Since then I have been like a musical butterfly dropping by all different genres, loving and then leaving them from girl band to funk band, dance music to reggae. Finally I have taken heed and realized I won't be satisfied until I have done my own thing, so, as well as getting as much practical/productive use out of my instruments along the way, it is my soul journey to record my first album this year... nice and smooth, in the right way, nothing production fancy but someting natural, inspiring, positive and of course... sexy.
Some of the people I have had the pleasure of working with/ singing/performing with to date are ...
Jonny Douglas' team at Sarmwest Studios, Rat Pack and Baby-D, P-Theory Funkband, Mikey McCleary, Ronni Carroll Jazz crooner, Jamie T, Blu Rum 13, Lee Ryan, one of the most captivating and impressive female vocal performers ever- Vula (Basement Jaxx), Patrick Allen and the hottest band in London !
Bu yaka sha to all a them and bu yaka sha to you for reading this. Mwah!.......................................................

"A powerful blend of husk and velvet, this woman makes music look like a position from the kama sutra. Undeniable creativity woven with the skills of a task master, I've never felt so close to the brink of powerlessness as when Cat is seducing me vocal-style. She has boundless energy and unfoundering enthusiasm for her art. It's pussies like this the keep the musical merry go round going round. It still surprises me that lyrics can be original, that melodies can be unsuspecting, that chords can have a depth similar to the ocean floor, but then I listen to Catherine Taylor-Dawson and my sad, jaded life suddenly doesn't feel so flat anymore. I have watched this lady play for twelve hours straight without ever once repeating herself, or stealing from someone ele's jumbled grey matter. It is people like her that propel music into the tear ducts of your eyes, the pulse in your groin and the beat in your heart."10/10/2006 9:00 AM Lizzy Dong
