First of all this is a fan sight. I'm really sorry if I made some people think that this was really Powerhouse.
Talk about Oakland bands, and the first one guaranteed to come up first will be Powerhouse. One of the best hardcore bands in California, Powerhouse was big all over the bay. No bullshit, and no off-shoots or cross-overs. Just pure-bread 100% hardcore. Powerhouse started in 1993, a time when it wasn't very often you'd find real kids who really liked or appreciated hardcore. There weren't very many bands , or shows for that matter. Powerhouse were on a mission to bring back the scene to the bay area. When Powerhouse toured over Cali, more and more bands started to form. And more and more kids were recongizing what hardcore was really about. They made the scene what is today. Now the bay is recognized for its music all over the country. Powerhouse was Chris Hower, Ernie Cortez, Eddie Medina, and Walter Ryan. Their first release was a 7" entitled Pandemonium. After Pandemonium they released a full length CD LP titled No Regrets. They then came back to Ressurection AD records to make What Lies Ahead in 2001. Powerhouse were the pioneers of hardcore in Cali. No doubt about it.
