Beshara were formed 1976 in Birmingham and were formerly named '' Cool Dimension'' which then changed to ''The Kushites''. The Band consisted of Errol Nanton (Lead Vocals) Ray Watts (Guitar) Michael Nanton (now The Reggae Revolution Band - Keyboards) Elias Pharoah (Bass) and Dixie Pinnock (Drums). Over the years the bands line - up changed and the roles of the remaining members changed also with Ray Watts taking up (Lead Vocals - Rhythm Guitar) Tony Garfield(Bass - Lead Vocals & BV's) Michael Nanton ( Keyboards & BV's) Byron Bailey (Saxophone) Steve Morrison(now The Reggae Revolution Band -Trombone & BV's) & Dixie Pinnock (Drums & BV's).The Band enjoyed success with early recordings such as ''Men Cry Too'' which reached number 6 in the reggae charts, whilst ''Shadow Of Love'', ''Glory Glory'' and Candi also received some success. They also achieved well earned TV exposure by appearing on ''The Rockers Roadshow and ''Together'' to name but a few whilst also recording a score for a BBC Documentary. This Birmingham (UK) band received much acclaim when they toured with UB40, Beres Hammond, Simply Red, Dennis Brown, Bad Manners and John Holt. In the late 80's Beshara recruited a new member to the band called Focett Gray to play Lead Guitar and by the early 90's Steve Morrison and Michael Nanton who would later form ''The Reggae Revolution Band'' departed from Beshara and the remaining members of Beshara also departed. In between the early and late 90's the ex members of Beshara pursued solo projects and then in 1999 after doing a reunion show they decided to reform Beshara which would only consist of three members Ray Watts, Tony Garfield and Dixie Pinnock. Sadly in 2000 whilst working on Beshara's forthcoming project which has new dimensions and a broad musical appeal Ray Watts (Lead Singer) died and due to this the remaining members of the band decided to depart. An E.P and Album will be released in the near future which will still have a twist of their old, established sound but you'll hear how they’ve built on their musical pedigree, with their own brand of social commentary on Lovers Rock and cultural reggae.
