About Me

Born in London, Nick started as an apprentice editor. He carried every film can on sheltering sky. He then left blighty for NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. "A great place to watch a lot of movies". While at school he promoted concerts for hip hop pioneers such as KRS One and Coldcrush all the way to Eric B and Rakim. Having worked with all of these artists, he pulled them all together and made a documentary "The Voice of a Nation". It was says Nick, "The hardest 11 months 2 weeks and 15 days of my life. I will never eat pea soup again."Nick went back to what he knew. He edited music videos for the Beasties Boys, Rolling Stones, Puff Daddy and multiple hip hop stars. "Editing is the best training ground for directors. It really shows you how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Directors make the pieces, editors fit them together."Then things took a turn. He was given his first directing break by the artist Common, "The label had messed up the video. We went and shot super 8 and video and created a portrait of the South Side of Chicago. It worked quite well."94 music videos later, having worked with Nas, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Brandy, Mystikal, Mase, P. Diddy, Shaq, Cash Money, Master P, Trina and Trick Daddy, Nick kicked off his own production company called Department of Film.
