About Me
My World Visitor Map!
Martin Crutchfield is something of a journeyman musician, writer, and
performer. As a guitarist, he's been featured on recordings by artists
including Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, Tony Joe White, and Delbert McClinton, to name a few. Having grown up in a family of professional musicians, Martin can't
remember a time when performing, writing, and recording was not a part
of his life. While still in his teens, he was already working in the
studio on a steady basis, as well as touring the Southeast as opener for
legendary bluesman, Stevie Ray Vaughn, roots rockers, Jason and the
Scorchers, and others. Live performance highlights also include an appearance with the Nashville Symphony alongside iconic music legend and guitarist, Chet Atkins. Frontman, sideman, and a few points in between,
Martin has continued to write and record, and is now focused on
supporting his debut, self-titled, solo release."Martin Crutchfield" features Martin's vocal and guitar work on all
twelve tracks, as well as his contributions on drums, bass, and
keyboards. Produced by Martin, the album features a solid group of
self-penned songs, six of which were co-written with Memphis based
writer-performer, Graham Perry. Also featured is a stellar group of
supporting players that include Wilco's Pat Sansone, keyboards and
background vocals, legendary guitarist, Mac Gayden, longtime Eric
Clapton drummer Jamie Oldaker, renowned bassist Willie Weeks, singer Ruby Amanfu, and the ever soulful Johnny Neel playing some powerful Hammond B-3.Citing influences that include Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Chris Whitley,
Steve Earle, Willis Alan Ramsey, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Wonder, it is no wonder this collection of material features such a wide array of musical textures. Showcasing a blend of reflective, confessional lyrics, and musical
elements that reference a wide array of Martin's blues, rock, and r&b
influences, his artistry is truly an eclectic stew. The end result is a
work that pulses with the heart of a true songwriter, soaring at full
stride through the realization of a focused, creative vision. To buy Martin's CD: Send $10.00 (USD) c/oGlitterfish Records
