Karin Marcello

Karin Marcello is a flutist and vocalist with seventeen years experience, an award winning Masters from the University of Chicago, and Bachelors from SUNY Stony Brook. Karin has studied classical music privately and academically. After studying privately, she went on to study at the university level performing several solo, orchestral, and chamber concerts before earning her masters.At the University of Chicago, Karin composed and recorded a piece for flute entitled Chasing the Dawn winning her Best Creative Thesis from the university in 2002. Upon graduating, she returned to home to the New York area to pursue music professionally by performing, teaching, composing, songwriting, and recording. Aside from classical works, she performs pop, rock, salsa, charanga, bluegrass, and contemporary classical pieces. Her ability to play by ear and keen rhythmic sense has made her a favorite to sit in with artists of various genres.Karin currently performs as a soloist, a member of the Brookhaven Flute Choir, the duo Flutescape, and harpist Karen Lindquist. Proficient in both sight reading and playing by ear makes Karin ideal for working with musicians of any genre and has made her sought after for recording sessions. Karin composes and records original works as well as lyrics and flute parts for contemporary composers.
