About Me

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." I love these words, and try to keep them in mind each day. My name is Lisa, and this is my small space on the web. I am a very spiritual person and identify with the Religious Science teachings of Ernest Holmes and the Science of Mind, although I feel that all paths converge, and lead to the same place in the end. It's all about what resonates with each individual. It has been a long road for me to get to the positive place where I am now. I grew up in a fundamental baptist family, and obviously it was not well received by my parents when I started to read books on spirituality and to begin to form my own views and beliefs. But I knew in my heart that all of the dogma of the baptist religion and organized religion in general did not resonate with me. It has been difficult, and still is at times, but being true to myself and my beliefs is priceless. My parents have come a long way in opening their minds. I honor their beliefs and way of life, because it is what resonates with them. It is simply a different spoke on the same wheel so to speak. While we have to agree to disagree on some points, they are open to what I believe and my career path/life's purpose and that is all I can ask.I am an energy healer and holistic wellness counselor, and am in the final phase of acquiring my LMT certification (you have to love red tape - beaurocracy is everywhere)with plans to be able to add work as a massage therapist to my work as an energy healer/holistic wellness consultant full time. I am currently doing private energy work sessions. If you feel to do so, please visit my website at www.lisacheatham.net. This is where I feel the call of spirit leading me, and my life purpose is to holistically assist others who are travelling the path of life on their unique journeys.I love to read, and learn about different cultures and religions. I don't think that anyone can ever have enough knowledge. There is always something new to learn, either about oneself or about others with whom we share this beautiful earth. Some of my favorite authors are Sylvia Browne, Wayne Dyer, John Holland, Doreen Virtue, Louise Hay, Esther and Jerry Hicks and so many others. I also love movies...some of the best I have seen have come from the Spiritual Cinema Circle. Check it out by visiting www.spiritualcinemacircle.com.I also love to write poetry...it is an emotional release for me. Rather than keeping emotions bottled up inside, I let them out on paper as I write. It is a very cathartic process for me. Check my blog as every so often I'll post some of my poetry.I also practice yoga regularly (I especially love kundalini yoga) and find that it helps tremendously in so many ways. It keeps my mind-body connection strong, and gives me time for self-reflection, as well as keeps me healthy. When I travel, I use podcast yoga classes, and I highly recommend Yogamazing... check them out on itunes or by visiting their website at www.yogamazing.com.I also advocate healthy eating, and my diet is vegetarian, consisting of all organic, natural foods, and about 80% raw foods. It is amazing how just eating foods free of chemicals and hormones and the like that has not been altered by extreme temperatures can do for your health. I spend a lot of time at Whole Foods...a great place for grocery shopping as well as meeting up with friends and having a nice lunch. There's also a great new place in East Nash called Veggie Cafe that is family run and all organic... check it out if you're in the area!Aside from spirituality and health, I have a lot of other interests. I love going to the gym and staying in shape, being outside in nature, traveling - especially to Italy...I have been an italophile since I was very young! I try to go there at least once a year, or more often if I can afford it... I have so many wonderful friends there (probably more than I have here in the states!) that I wish I could see much more often!! One day after I finish my bachelor's degree in holistic health I plan to move there permanently...I just feel so much more at home there than in the US! I must have had a lot of past lives there! :) I also love spending time with my wonderful friends. I want to send out a special thank you to my special friends who have always been there for me and helped me grow as a person...you know who you are!!

Reflection

If I were to be tacitly honest with myself, I would have to say that I am at a point now at which I have never been before... At the edge of a precipice which if I were to jump off, I would not be in...
