About Me

A chance meeting in the summer of 2003 led to the Da Firm being formed. The infamous New breed crew needed a studio to make a tune and after many phone calls were made, a studio was found in the depths of Essex owned by then unknown producer, Shodan . Armed with their resident dj/producer, Rekless, (who already had a release under his belt entitled “Fresh”), the new breed boys headed down the motorway to Shodan’s studio.
There, the MC led, “War” was made, phone numbers were exchanged and the next week a streamlined version of the New Breed crew hopped on the motorway to start on a new project. This time only Fatman D and Rekless decided to make the trip. The trio found they had a lot in common, being involved in the mass migration from hip hop to dnb back in the early nineties, the trip to Southend became a regular occurrence and the crew now known as Da Firm was formed.
Many DnB heads will not know that Da Firm’s tunes have been played up and down the country for a good couple of years now, but it is only recently they came to the attention of the heavyweight drum and bass label, Trouble on vinyl with their 2005 dancefloor smash “Gangsta 05” b/w “Taliban Yoda”. Trouble on Vinyl aren’t the only ones to recognise Da Firm’s talents, Dope Ammo Records has given them two releases including Drunken Masters remixes of “Better Believe” feat Mc Shortston and “Evil That Men Do”.
The trio plan to keep producing using reggae influenced basslines and hip hop stylings to carve out their own unique sound. The best thing to do when you are out at a rave, when a track comes on that makes you loose it on the dance floor, is push your ear up to the speaker… you’re probably listening to a track by Da Firm!
