The Xiphoid Process

About Me

It all started when a couple of college buddies (Jeremy Canter-guitar, Michael Hawkins-drums/percussion/spinning) with a passion for music jammed for the first time. The initial jam session was within the confines of an extremely small back bedroom of a duplex apartment in the brisk autumn of 2001 in Boone, NC. Over time, the practice space was moved across town to an even smaller space in a different apartment. The occasional jam session turned into a 2 night per week spectacular. This weekly event was hampered when Jeremy graduated and moved to Asheville, NC. However, the sessions continued on a bi-monthly basis. The band was taken to the next level when guitarist Stephen Fesperman (formerly of Unscathed and Bull Rush) was added to the mix bringing with him unsurpassed musical prowess. Mid 2004 saw the beginning of a span of about 3 years where the band would be separated from one another and the future of the band was somewhat in question. However, in 2006, things fell into place to where TXP could reunite. Each band member brought new ideas to the table as well as a renewed focus on what the band was and what it stood for. The focus of TXP was, and is, to send a positive message through metal/rock influenced music. After completing the debut album, "Resurrection of the Fallen," in the summer of 2006, the decision was made not to produce the album due to several recording problems. Soon after recording was complete, Stephen decided to part ways with TXP pursuing his solo project, Last Till Dawn. After taking the winter off, Jeremy and Michael came together in the summer of 2007 to write, record, and self produce the follow-up to "Resurrection of the Fallen" entitled "Midnight Burning." In early 2008, TXP finally ended their exhausting search for a vocalist by adding Jeff Winters to the group. Jeff brought with him a true passion for the music, while fully embracing the meaning and direction of TXP as the lyrical content of the songs meshed well with his own writing style and musical vision. Soon after Jeff was welcomed into the band, Stephen Fesperman was welcomed back into the band. While Stephen still pursues Last Till Dawn (album to be released later this year), he enjoyed the new music and energy behind the band, and gladly accepted the invite back into the family. For a short time, Kris Hollenbeck (Planet Hoffman, Stranger than Stereo), came in to provide a bass player for the band. Not long after playing their debut show, the band added Zach Wetmore as the band's full time bassist to complete the lineup. Zach brought with him tremendous playing ability, creativity in riffs and accents, as well as a playing style that meshed perfectly with the music. Currently, the band is out playing shows and putting the finishing touches on the official debut album, "Confessions of a Proletarian," to be released later this year.
