Art From The Heart2006 Mix "Forward to the Past"
According to the American History Dictionary the definition of Foci is being able to have multiple centers of interest or activity. Southern California's own DJ FOCI is the finest example of this word to the fullest extent.
Entering the music field as a highly trained percussionist specializing in snare and tenor for drum line and drum set in band since the age of 8 it was only a matter of time that FOCI would experiment and become heavily involved with music as he is today.
Producing and writing for many up and coming artists and starting his own independent record label, Annunaki Recordings, and production company, Joint Tendency, FOCI brings about a new style and professional approach to music and also to the art of DJing.
Since age 13, FOCI, has been the driving force behind the tools of the DJ, two turntables a mixer and a microphone. He has played for the likes of Kurt Rambis, Jessica Simpson, Mario Lopez & Ali Landry, Mark Hammil, The Gerragos Family, Keanu Reaves, corporate client Trendwest Incorporated, world renowned venues: House of Blues, Circus Disco, and Henry Fonda Theatre. His greatest achievement so far, becoming Spundae/Godskitchen first and what seems to be the last resident Hip-Hop DJ in Los Angeles.
What sets him apart from the rest? FOCI has a love for music that can not only be seen but also heard from every angle. He hits a home run by providing you with the most abnormal mix of Hip-Hop (old school, classic to current hits, much like the current KDAY format), 80s, Funk, Soul and R'n'B, Dancehall, Reggae and then bringing it back to home base with Hip Hop. FOCI's live mixes average from 2 and a half hours to 4, and even longer when required. A demo CD truly doesn't do him justice you must see him live.
