B.HARDY BIOGRAPHY
B.Hardy is smart… really smart… 99th percentile smart. So what logical reason would a person with the intellectual aptitude to do anything in the world, and do it well, give for his decision to leave college and make hip-hop music? “I love hip-hop more than anything else I could’ve possibly ended up doing.†And that’s B.Hardy.
B.Hardy, a native of Dallas, TX, is a 23 year old artist/executive of Hi-Rollaz Entertainment. Raised in one of the less economically developed (read: Ghetto) parts of the city, Oak Cliff, he somehow never managed to succumb to the “hood†mentality. “I was too busy working on a way to get my people out to do the things that were causing people to be trapped there,†he admits. And work he did. He became an above-average baseball player at his high school while maintaining a GPA high enough to be named class Salutatorian. He turned down partial athletic scholarships to take a full academic scholarship to Southern University. It was here that he met future HRE Co-CEO DJ Shad, who was, coincidentally, the other finalist for the aforementioned scholarship. They were both in the beginning stages of their respective careers. This was the foundation that Hi-Rollaz ENT was built upon. After deciding to become serious artists, the two partners decided to start the label, Hi-Rollaz ENT. This faction also included singer, Rob DeVine, rapper, Two Scoop, and later added rapper B-Don.
With the foundation in place, Hardy got to work, preparing his venture into the mixtape market. In January 2007, he released his first solo mixtape, “Throwaway Rhymes.†This mixtape was successful enough for him to decide to make it into a series, which he is now wrapping up the release of a 5th installment of. It has since reached tens of thousands of people in the 18 months since he started, getting to the point where you couldn’t go two blocks in Dallas without hearing the series’ signature crumpling paper sound effect, and with good reason. With his commitment to his lyrical and stylistic growth, he‘s managed to load them all with quality, if not classic material.
Don’t get his aim misconstrued. He fully understands what his goals are. “The mixtapes are cool as long as everyone understands that they are a part of a greater goal, which is to promote myself, my label, and my upcoming album,†he explains. Amidst all of the excitement that his mixtapes are generating, he is constantly in the studio working on his debut album, “Feast or Famine: Devastation.†He has already released two singles “Betta Act Like Ya Know†and “Uh-Huh Yeah†which both manage to make you move without compromising his lyrical integrity. He says, “No matter what, I’m a lyricist. Anything you hear from me is 100% hip-hop.†That album will be released under his own Hi-Rollaz ENT imprint with possible help from the “right†major, he explains. When asked about the reason for his title choice, he responds, “I’ve got so much riding on my music career that this is like an ‘All In’ bet. I eat or starve based on this.â€
At this point, all the chips are in the middle of the table, and with his skill-set, the cards just might end up in his favor.
