Stand beside or step aside...we're on the frontline

About Me

My name is Steve and I live in Remlap, Alabama, which is a small town about 30 minutes or so from downtown Birmingham. I usually just say I'm from Birmingham since some people actually know where that is. I love music. I mean love music. Read my blogs and look at my friends list and you'll get the picture. I started a ministry at Grace and Truth church called Resurrection Music Hall which puts on Christian concerts, it's right up my alley. My dream is to own my own Christian rock venue and promote concerts for a living so this ministry was a great training ground. The ministry folded for various reasons after three great shows, but I intend to see it restart at some point, likely at another church since I haven't been to Grace and Truth in a while. Or maybe something will happen to allow me to go straight into opening the business on my own. I like to write some poetry and song lyrics. Below are a few more tidbits of info about me. Between what's here and the stuff on the other side of the page you should have a pretty good idea who I am and what I like. If there's anything else you want know just ask.
Most Memorable Life Experience:In 1995 I went on a missions trip with my church to Romania. We spent 10 days in the Carpathian Mountains teaching conversational English to about 70 students. We would teach during the day and have a big bonfire every night. Our college pastor would teach a Bible lesson and then we would all sing songs around the fire and talk until the wee hours of the morning. It was truly an amazing experience, despite the complete and total lack of electricity and running water.

Do You Want To Get Married:Absolutely
What Would She Be Like?
Spiritual and Emotional: She's a committed Christian and active in her church. She would support me in ministry or even better, join me in it. She would pray with me and study the Word with me. She's kind, gentle, and affectionate. She's lots of fun without being loud and obnoxious, but also knows when to be serious. She can appreciate my sense of humor...since I don't have the body of a Greek god I'm pretty much sunk if I can't make her laugh.
Physical: I'm fairly easy to please here. She has a pretty face, she's soft, and she smells great. She likes to wear designer fragrances and shop at Bath and Body Works. I read an interview with Felicity's Keri Russell once where she said her bathroom was full of fruity lotions and body washes. I remember thinking "That's my kind of girl. I'll have one Keri Russell to go please." Basically she would just be really girly.
Long Hair or Short Hair:Definitely prefer long, but it's not a rule.
Eyes:Yes, I would prefer that she has eyes.
So that's what she'd be like. When I find her I'm going to make her feel like the most loved, honored, and cherished woman on the planet. BTW, do you know anybody like this? If you do let me know. I'd love to meet her.
Do you have any dreams or ambitions you'd like to talk about?: I'd love to open a Christian music club/hangout where people could come and hear live music and just hang out in a safe atmosphere. It would have a CD jukebox filled with Christian music and local and national bands playing a few times a week. It's a tall order to finance but our God dreams much bigger than we do so I know He can make it come true. And maybe a small indie record label too. I want to help Christian bands get their music out and have places to play, and also have a place for people to come and seee them. I also think that I'll involved in youth ministry for a long time to come.

My Interests

Music, movies, TV sports(especially the NHL and NFL), history, and politics/current events. Since there's no seperate category for sports here are some of my sports favorites.

Favorite MLB team:Atlanta Braves
Favorite MLB Players:The Jones Boys

I'd like to meet:

Pretty much anyone from anywhere. I want to meet some new people and make some new friends so if you want to talk about Christ, music, movies, sports, or just get to know me better (or if you're struck with the sudden desire to marry me) then drop me a line. I've collected some of my favorite bands in my friend space but I'd also like to have some other friends to interact with...so don't be shy. See ya.

Since so many people use this area to talk about famous people they'd like to meet I thought I'd finally do that too. Not necessarily in this order:Lacey from Flyleaf, Sonny from P.O.D., Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Shaun Alaxander, Terrell Owens, Patrick Roy, Wayne Gretzky, Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, Joss Whedon(creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly), James Marsters(Spike on Buffy and Angel), Amber Benson(Tara on Buffy), Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Zhang Yimou, Sean Hannity, and Condi Rice.

Music:

I love music so I have a lot to say about this topic. It wouldn't be accurate to say I like a little of everything like many people say. Browsing some of the profiles here on MySpace I saw that other people like musical forms that I've never heard of. Like bachata. What's that? The diversity in my music collection is more about light/soft or hard/heavy. That ranges from Sandi Patti, Amy Grant, and Point of Grace to P.O.D. and Blindside. Anyway I like mostly rock, particularly hard rock, which is what I call any heavy music. There are way too many genre labels to keep up with these days(emo, screamo, hardcore, grindcore, rapcore, metalcore, etc.) so it's all hard rock to me. I keep wondering when I'm going to reach that point so many people do when I all I want to listen to is soft rock and country...but it ain't happened yet. I do like some country and pop, and thanks to TSO and their dazzling String Master and violinist extraordinaire Anna Phoebe I now like a bit of classical music as well. I grew up in the 80's listening to Van Halen, KISS, Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, etc. Then I got into Queensryche, Metallica, and Megadeth as well. I can still listen to some of that stuff and enjoy it but I've really adapted to today's music scene. I'm not the same person I was then and I've found a lot of current bands whose lyrics better reflect who I am now.
