Biography
Lester Jay began his professional music career in 2000 (although singing since the age of 5 in various church choirs and gospel groups), performing in such venues as The Maywood Sound Stage, Olive Harvey College, The UniverSoul Circus, The Premier Entertainment Center, The Taste of Entertainment, and various talent and open mic shows and venue areas in the city of Chicago and has also made television appearances on Channel 19 and FOX.Along with extensive vocal and acting training, Lester was able to create his signature sound and stage performance. After a brief affiliation with a local hip hop label in 2002 (Il Entertainment), Lester left the label with their top producer, Marcus Mister a.k.a. Mr. Mister and created a 6 track demo/ep that landed him with a management opportunity with New Art Entertainment.
In the summer of 2006, Lester joined forces with what was labeled as “Columbia’s All-Stars†in Blues (under the direction of Fernando Jones) and formed the Down and Dirty Blues Band. With the band he was able to perform in such venues as Kingston Mines, Buddy Guys, Lee’s Unleaded Blues Club, The Checkerboard Lounge, and COUNTLESS house parties, special events including an all expense paid performance in Forrest City, Arkansas.
Lester is currently finishing up his degree at Columbia College in Vocal Performance, and Music Management with a minor in Acting finishing a long awaited solo compilation, and actively performing with a blues/funk band.
