Not many Christian musicians are able to convey the moving message of salvation in such a powerful, heart touching, down to earth manner. In Dustin’s music, one can hear the emotion of his dedication to Jesus and a relevant take on the issues many Christians face today. Dustin’s music transcends generational barriers by offering the true message of hope for a twenty-first century audience.
Dustin is a multi talented musical artist who has written many original songs. He writes, sings and plays guitar, keyboard, drums, and many other instruments. He was born in 1981 in Tallahassee, Florida, where he has resided much of his life. Because of a tumultuous childhood and adolescence, his faith increased immeasurably. Dustin recalls, "I’ve experienced how gracious God has been through uncertain times." Music has been an outlet for Dustin’s deep emotions of gratitude. "I feel I was not given the gift of music for myself, but for God’s kingdom. I write, sing, and play music as a way of bringing people to Him," says Dustin.
Dustin started playing music at age 14. However, his music has not always had Christian roots. At the age of 19, Dustin played in a secular band at local bar type venues. During this time, his brother played a big part in his receiving Christ. "He promised to buy me a new pair of shoes if I would come to church with him. This wasn’t a bad deal to me." Dustin recalls. That day the pastor asked if anyone wanted to give their life to God, and if so, to come to the front of the church. "I didn’t go at first" said Dustin "but I saw people falling down in the Spirit. I thought it wasn’t real, and decided to prove it to myself." The Holy Spirit touched him that morning, "I’ve never been the same" says Dustin.
Dustin has been an active member of his Church’s praise and worship team for more than five years. For over the past year, Dustin has been trusted with the position of "Worship Leader" during the evening service at his home church in Tallahassee. The youth of the church have been known to carry his tunes on their IPODs. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kelly.
Dustin has self-produced two CDs of his original works, which have been in demand with the church’s congregation and his CD sales profits have benefited the church’s youth program. Listeners of Dustin’s music will in no doubt take with them an encouraging message. "God’s Promise," inspired by Psalm 32, "is a song about how the world tries to pull us away from God and that the promises of God are what we are to build our lives upon." Dustin explains, "I believe from the moment you wake up, to the moment you go to sleep, there is an unseen battle." In the song "Be Still" Dustin tells us of some of his day to day battles. "When we’re fighting and struggling through our daily lives, I feel we should be still, and know that God is who He says He is," says Dustin.
Dustin cannot deny his God given talents, and will continue to use them to glorify the name of Jesus! Look forward to hearing a lot more music coming from Dustin Allen.
