Concert 9Net

About Me

Concert 9Net was spawned from a pimp-ass wedding in 2004. The families have roots in New Orleans, and the ceremony occurred in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, home of the Los Angeles Opera, and longtime home of the LA Philharmonic. That kinda dictated the musical direction. There have been several attempts at the "orchestration of jazz", but not many of the "jazz penetration of the classics" approaches attempted. An example of a successful experiment is how Duke Ellington approached Nutcracker Suite and Peer Gynt Suite. The 9Net is kinda the distilled version of that concept, with a nine piece ensemble, as opposed to a big band. The players are all pretty nasty on the instruments of choice, and our shows are best enjoyed under the influence.
