I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

You can find me at several places on the internet. I belong to the Care2 Network and Host a group there called "Pacific Northwest Circle of Friends" . If you'd like to know how I became a "comic book wife", you can also check out my wedding webpage, which has been on the net since October 4th 2001! "Our Asgardian Wedding" In addition to my ties with the comic book world, family has always been very important to me. I have been a member of many genealogy groups since 2000, and post regularly to them. Check out my family history at genforum, rootsweb or ancestry.com just to name a few. My husband is the oldest of nine children, so I have married into quite a huge tree, but I also have a son, Justin who is grown living in Ohio, and my son and daughter Maigan and Ryan who live with their father and stepmother in Tennessee. No matter how far life takes you or how hard the road is, you always remember the ones you love! I also volunteer as a photo journalist on the www.FindAGrave.com website. When people have lost their relatives and friends to death and cannot visit the graveside, it can be a comfort to have an online memorial to remember them. I help bring them a bit closer to those loved ones by photographing the grave site or the area for them. There are more than 10 million grave records on Find A Grave. It is also a very useful tool for connecting the dots in a family tree.

My Interests

Waterfalls, green trees and wildlife are my passion. Many years ago I was traveling across country with a friend who brought me to Oregon, to Multnomah Falls. I knew then I had found my home. It took quite a while, but I held on to the thought and while my husband and I were living in Michigan I placed my resume on monster.com. I didn't restrict the responses to Michigan. Imagine my surprise when the first employer to respond to my post, responded just two weeks later from Portland. At that moment I knew for sure it was meant to be, so 2500 miles of road we traveled and here I am. .."arial" color="white"On my days off, you will likely find me exploring the area with my husband, Kirk and our dog, Heidie.
We also spend alot of time on the comic book convention circuit, since my husband is a published illustrator. We both are basically big kids, but we have alot of fun and are rarely bored. A ** New ** Addition to our family arrived in July!! Heidie now has a puppy brother:

I'd like to meet:

People who have the best sides of both sexes... The strength and independence of most men and the soft, friendly warming side of women that makes ya feel at home.

Music:

.."arial"an eclectic mess of everything and always changing. usually something I can follow the words too or music that creates an emotion for the moment

Movies:

.."arial"horror with the right lighting and mood. action or comedy if its an actor I particularly enjoy, like Billy Zane or Adam Sandler.

Television:

.."arial"when I watch television it is generally a DVD or channels like the History channel, HGTV or SciFi. I get alot of DVDs free from the Portland public library. It is really well stocked and they have many many first run movies, plus its *FREE* and beats waiting for netflix anyday. my list is usually filled with series that I never got to watch, or some that were my favorites, like "that 70s show" and "king of the hill", "XFILEs", "Roswell" or "Millenium"

Books:

.."arial" wearing glasses these days, but working more than I care to admit so I rarely have time to read beyond a work manual or new training guide

Heroes:

.."arial" Unfortunately my heroes are three people who live 2500 miles away from me. Distance or separation has never kept them out of my heart or mind though... MY KIDS! They are ALL intelliegent, beautiful and have good heads on their shoulders because they haven't let their peers or friends guide them to their choices or likes. They haven't let technology turn them in to brainless people without common sense to guide them. Most children have ALL of their focus on playing video games, listening to their IPODs, chatting online with friends, but if their parents don't monitor it, they forget to keep it in moderation. My kids like those things but also enjoy other activities with their friends like going to church and fishing. They are respectful and manners are more important to them than being the center of attention. I will always be proud of my kids, they are my heroes!
