About Me

Johannes Perez was born on January the 30th 1981 in a small oil town in Venezuela. At a very early age he began to be interested in music thanks to the influence of his brother Danny, who himself had been playing guitar and writing songs from a very early age. When Johannes was 12 years old, his parents gave him an electric bass in response to the musical interest that he demonstrated, and with that bass he would define his first steps and musical style. During his adolescence he performed with several musical outfits in East Venezuela such as D4 (later Razanima), Ubre and TNT. In 1998 he decided to move to the United States to study Recording Arts at the prestigious Full Sail Institute in central Florida. During that period he belonged to the band Mad Monas (The Monas) where he began to develop his career as a professional musician, performing at such venues as the Hard Rock Cafe in Miami. In September of 2002, he moved to Los Angeles, California for a brief stint with his brother Danny's project thebeachmachine. With them he made his first recording, Bis Pack, currently available online through www.thebeachmachine.com. A year later, Johannes left thebeachmachine and returned to Venezuela to begin to develop himself as a composer and a singer, while learning other musical instruments like the guitar and the keyboards. In that new stage of his life he joined the Christian church, a move which would bring about a new tendency in its compositions. Thanks to the recording knowledge that he obtained during his university period he made his first musical production as a solo artist, Untuned, consisting of 9 songs that mixes music styles like Brit Pop, Alternative, Funk and Rock and Roll. In January of 2005, he formed the group Patmos along with Zoilo Arenas (guitar) and Daniel Manzanares (bass). Patmos rehearsed constantly during that year songs from Untuned as well as other compositions that arose day by day. In December of 2005, they made performed at the Museum Dimitrios Demu of Lecheria, Anzoátegui. At the beginning of 2006, the band broke up and Johannes continued his career as a solo artist and composer. In the middle of that year he married Mirthila Romero, signaling a new beginning of his life and his music career. In July 2007, he finished his second production, The Hardest Thing To Make, where he reflects his emotional and musical growth. In that album, Johannes approaches social subjects such as anorexia, insecurity and infantile abandonment, as well as intimate subjects like love and his relationship with God. In addition to that, in November of the same year he released an EP called October which includes the songs Lifestyle, Rockin’ Beats, A Friend, and Beatiful Dreamer. In July 2008, he releases the ... pieces & cuts from an unknown scene EP, which includes backing vocals of his wife Mirthila Romero. He is currently signed as a recording artist with Muttness Records, with music available for listening and purchase at http://muttness.ithinkmusic.com/ .
