Sounds Like: Hailing from Marietta, GA by way of Ohio, Indiana, Alabama, and New York - E. Credit, JV, Ro, and RonVé make up the hip-hop group, The Undergrads. Their blend of high energy, bass heavy, eclectic hip-hop beats with fluid raps and smooth, soulful singing is what has made this group one of the most sought-after acts in Atlanta right now. Unique production arrangements, catchy melodies, and intricate lyrics truly make them the one of the most innovative groups to come out in some time. It is The Undergrads’ mission to not only take music to the next level, but to also make a positive impact on the world today and one day be mentioned in the same breath as many of the greats. All four members of The Undergrads have been involved with music for quite some time now. While attending a performing arts high school and college together, JV and RonVé developed a knack for producing and making beats. RonVé had more of an East Coast/traditional hip-hop influence while JV provided the more bass-heavy, southern-influenced sound. The two eventually joined forces and formed their acclaimed and well-established production team, Varsity Squad. Around the same time, Ro and RonVé were in a group called Notch (Now On Top Changing History) while E. Credit was pursuing a career as a solo artist - both having released several underground mixtapes. Eventually, all four crossed paths at Apache Café in Atlanta during a local beat-battle competition and the rest was history. Influenced by a variety of artists ranging from Jay-Z to Timbaland, Lupe Fiasco to 2Pac, John Mayer to Earth, Wind, and Fire – it is difficult to label this group in one specific category. The Undergrads truly epitomize what it means to be, multi-faceted. With their unique sound, thought-provoking lyrics and undeniable personality, The Undergrads are focused and ready to make history.
