About Me

I am am artist and live in Dallas. I have two furry cat children named Clairbella and Nutmeg. They are delightful and make me laugh.I have a studio where I build my art. It is always in a state of confusion. I don't think it helps the creative process, but it seems that there is never time to organize it, because as soon as I have some down time to clean it up, I get a brainstorm and must create something new. Not sure if it is pure creative inspiration or procrastination that makes this occur. I love being in my studio. It is like a treehouse above a garage with lots of windows and freedom. It is one of my favorite places to be.Creating for me is a strange animal. Many of my inspirations come to me in dreams. Sometimes I visualize a finished piece of finished art, complete with title! It is so bizarre, often times it is about something I think I have absolutely no interest in at all, but I am compelled to make it. Then something happens that explains the visual that makes it interesting to me.My immediate family is small. My mom lives here in Dallas, so I get to spend a lot of time with her. My sister lives in Austin and she comes up once a month for a working visit, so I get to spend at least 5 days a month with her. My brother lives in Florida, so not as much time with him and his family as I would like, but with the advent ot the internet, we are in touch almost daily. One of the most important and exciting things in my life these days is that my sister, who was diagnosed with cancer, it in remission! She is such an important part of my life, and to know that she is beating such a formidable illness makes me joyous beyond words.Well, as I read the above information, I am not all that interesting, so I will cease any more "About Me".

My Interests

My main interest is art. I love playing games, music, & travel. I am interested in politics and the state of the world. I am interested in fairness, faith and spirituality. I am interested in the good in others.

I'd like to meet:

Maya Angelou, Donald Roller Wilson, Elizabeth Edwards & Teresa Hines Kerry, James Spader, Julie Speed, John Travolta, David Sedaris, Ellen Degeneres, Michael Caine, and Donald Sutherland.

Music:

I used to work in a bar that offered live music, during that time I was up on the current and cutting edge of the music industry. Now I pretty much rely on friends to introduce me to new music. I am like a pretty wide spectrum. Anything from kd Lang to Katie Melua, Robbie Williams to Robbie Robertson, Dr. John to Rod Stewart, Maroon 5 to zero7, Joni Mitchell to Diana Krall. I will listen to most anything, not particularly fond of country.

Movies:

I like odd movies. Steelyard Blues, Bagdad Cafe, Priscilla Queen of the Dessert, Choose Me, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Station Agent, The Garden State, Lovely and Amazing, Diner, and Diva. Don't like graphic sex or violence. Since I am a visual person those images never want to leave my head.

Television:

I do not have cabel or satalite so my selections are limited . . . Ellen, Jeopardy, The West Wing, Boston Legal, all of the CSI's and Law and Orders, Joan of Arcadia, Judging Amy don't care much for sitcoms, but I think Desperate Housewives is a HOOT! Whatever happened to Alias?

Books:

The Stand, anything by Vonegut and Bradberry, A Fine Balance (although I am still depressed), Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, The Club of Angels. I used to read lots of non-fiction like the Stranger Beside Me, and Serpentine, but got creeped out by them, and don't read too much of that stuff anymore. I am in a book club with some very well read ladies, and rely on them to select interesting books.

Heroes:

My mom and my sister are my biggest heroes. Maya Angelou, Maya Lin, Georgia O'Keefe, Ann Richards, Al Franken, and Susan Sarandon.
