DJ BIZZ

DJ Bizz has been one of the top DJ in the Houston scene since the early 90s and has played at most of the major night clubs & raves around the United States. His experience and unfounded dedication to always spin what makes the crowd move on the dance floor makes him one of the city's most sought after mixologist. You can always find DJ Bizz mixing in a never before heard retro hit or laying down an unforgettable set that is sure to keep the energy high and drinks flowing.

From the Beginning, DJ Bizz had a dream that he never truly expected to turn into reality. At the age of 10, his zest for musical creativity was born through his purchase of a 12" wax single by the Sugar Hill Gang called “Rapper’s Delight." Little did he know 20 years later he would open for them at a major Rave in Cleveland, Ohio dubbed “Get Freaky 2.” Bizz’s talents also founded him as a headlining resident at the Get Freaky events.

Although born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bizz grew up in the Denver, Colorado area. At age 16, his love for funky beats and fresh grooves found him break dancing and buying records. "We would buy the latest Electro beats, and hip hop traxx to break to. It was one night watching NYC Hot Traxx that I saw Run-DMC's Jam Master Jay cuttin’ and scratchin'. He was just rippin’ it," states Bizz. (He couldn't have possibly known that in 10 years he would also be opening for this legend in Austin, Texas at "Phoenix Rising.") It was then he realized his true calling, and a DJ was born. Bizz went on to rock house parties and early teen clubs under the moniker B-Roc. He entered numerous DJ battles, winning every time. Simultaneously, Bizz began to hone his natural promoter skills. He used these skills to start Colorado's infamous ‘Needle to the Groove Productions’ (NTG). NTG virtually introduced Hip-Hop to the Denver area by throwing countless Hip-Hop events.

By the time Bizz was 19, he began searching for more challenges. His search brought him back to his birthplace. Here the Miami/NY Freestyle, early Rave, House, and Techno sounds significantly influenced him. During this time, the rave scene was just beginning to break in the US. Bizz continued his career spinning at the most popular clubs in the New Orleans area. As the Rave scene began to flourish, Bizz made his mark, along with 2 friends, bringing the very first Rave to the Big Easy known as the "G-Spot.” This Rave brought out over 300 people, a huge turnout for the time. New Orleans went on to become a Mecca for raves in the South. This success was due in part to the efforts of 'Free Base Crew' (FBC). The “Zoolu Party,” which takes place every year during Mardi Gras and draws people from all over the world, is the FBC’s most well known event. Even after his move to Houston, Bizz returned to New Orleans to play at “Zoolu 3” and copious other shows.

Bizz’s internal drive for success lead him to yet another change in his life. He moved to Houston, Texas, where he focused his sights on obtaining an education from the Art Institute of Houston for Music and Video. It was within the walls of this institution he realized there was no way to teach the passion for creativity he possessed. Bizz followed his heart back to that familiar and comfortable spot between two turntables and a cross fader.

Bizz’s claims to fame received a rather cool reception by the early and almost non-existent Houston rave scene. Undeterred by the opposition, and impelled by his drive to rock the crowds, Bizz once again made something happen for himself by creating the ‘Good Vibe Tribe’ (GVT). According to Bizz, “No one would give me a chance, so I threw my own party." This party, symbolically dubbed the “Resurrection” reflected Bizz's thoughts. "I felt like I was resurrecting a dead scene," Bizz states. His efforts were a complete success, and with GVT, he went on to throw one of Houston’s most legendary parties, “Candy Land,” with 1800 people in attendance. Once again, Bizz’s career began to thrive. His DJ sets were legendary. His early funky breaks, scratching, and tricks earned him the reputation of Houston's top DJ along-side Chris Anderson (the godfather of the Houston raves).

Through massive self-promotion, as well as a fresh blend of House and Techno, Bizz received numerous offers to play throughout Texas. His reputation soon preceded him, facilitating profuse offers throughout the U.S. mainland, Canada, and Hawaii.
