I'm a Philosophy graduate from Birmingham and I currently run a dating and activities service for people with learning disabilities/difficulties. I also provide 1:1 relationship and sexual health advice to our members when required. I've previously worked with people with mental health and drug problems and last year got my NVQ4 RMA (Registered Managers Award). I'm also helping to set up a care home for people with complex needs and challenging behaviours in Edgbaston.
I'm currently training hard in Krav Maga which is an Israeli Self Defense and Combat Sytem which is used by the IDF. There is a high level of focus on everything being practical and useful on the streets and unarmed defence against armed or multiple opponents is introduced early on in training. There's a no holds barred approach and kicks to the groin and eye gauging are common occurrences in the syllabus. If you've seen any of the Bourne films then you'll have a fair idea. It's great for fitness and self confidence.
In my spare time I'm also a keen musician and at the moment I'm in several bands that seem to be getting peoples attention. I'm the lead vocalist and songwriter for Infractor who are in my Top friends if you don't mind hearing me shout lots...lol...there is some melody in there too. I also sing in H.O.S.T.I.L.E, a progressive metal band with a sick sense of humour, and I play drums in The Graham Parsnip Liquidiser Torture Think-tank (Project), a comedy pop/rock/punk band with a fondness of tractors and Geoff Capes' Beard both of which can be found in my top 8.
As a person I consider myself to be pretty laid back most of the time and I have a genuine desire to try and make the world a better place for everyone in it. I'm still devising my plans as to how to go about this but hopefully they will not elude me for too much longer.
I've also got the best friends a person could ask for, who I rarely get to see these days due to work/bands/krav etc. They're always up for a laugh and share the same sense of humour as me. At times the world can all get a bit much for me, but if I let them know, then they'll always be there to offer their support. What more could a guy ask for? All hail the Rubery Mafia.
