About Me

born on the isle of man and raised in rural tranquility, rob translated the serenity of his surroundings into adept musicianship, teaching himself to play first piano, then bass guitar, then guitar whilst simultaneously amassing an enviable collection of vinyl. after a short but memorable stint in one of the manx music scene's most notoriously loud bands, he upped sticks to england, stopping off in lancaster long enough to get a set of decks and an MA in history before arriving in london. whilst rob became increasingly seduced by electronic music, his band was gigging around london's sub-toilet circuit and being played on south african national radio - spinal tap-esque drummer problems ultimately causing them to disband. somewhat inevitably, and with dj gigs now starting to build up like hair in a drain, rob turned his mind to production work. with early tracks being singled out for praise and plays from the likes of jondi & spesh and james holden, his sound developed quickly into left-of-centre house that draws influences from techno, minimal and progressive and espouses his favourite things - basslines that can melt a spine, quasi-nostalgic melodies, chaotic hats and percussion, clever edits and a production warmth that could take the edge off a northern winter. recent releases room 228 (audio invaders) and ligne rouge (eq grey) have been getting mad props from all over the place, chartings from hernan cattaneo, and plays on australia's best radio station, triple j.

whatsupmag (whatsupmag.ch):
(ENG) This English newcomer's music is astonishingly mature. QF376, is an all round musical caress that is uniquely his own. Accompanied by a great remix from Ripperton, who, with a touch that is his alone, makes all the difference.
Green One is more dub techno orientated, a bit rough, it has a powerful beat, and its throbbing bass risks damaging more than a sound system. The Undo remix has, on the other hand, a very different texture. Very musical, a bass riff which lingers in the head, a softness which triggers a definite flight of fantasy.
