dj demigod first started his career at the tender age of 7 by organizing neighborhood talent shows/lip sync contests in his parents garage. From that moment on... he was hooked. dj demigod's entertainment and musical tastes were fueled by his parents love for music, dancing and his father's appreciation for trumpet players. Every Sunday evening the sounds of Miles Davis, Al Hirt, Ahmad Jamal, MFSB, Louis Prima, The Temptations, The 5th Dimension, Isaac Hayes, Ray Charles, The Coasters, Jackie Wilson, The Four Tops, and anything from Motown could be heard from his parents "hi-fi" stereo.
"We would actually have a family get-together every Sunday night. Dad would pull out a few fav's from his old vinyl collection and the rest of the family would gather around listen to them front to back... so music has always been a part of and has had a great influence in my life." As time passed, dj demigod's passion and love for all kinds of music only intensified by taking some lessons and playing musical instruments such as the drums, guitar and a brief stint with the piano.
dj demigod got his first gig as an announcer for his high school's radio station that he helped to create. Shortly after graduation, he was first hired by Jack Brickhouse (The voice of the Chicago Cubs) and Howard Miller (Radio personality/member of the Broadcasting Hall of Fame) and become a radio announcer/disc-jockey/on-air personality for W.G.S.B./W.F.X.W. - Radio 1480 AM. Working for W.F.X.W., dj demigod won several station awards for his creative commercials. While at the station, dj demigod spun "live" for the first time, in front of his hometown. Later, he landed a job at W.D.E.K. 92.5 FM (which was later ENERGY 92.7/5 FM) as an "on-air" personality.
Though he is a self-taught "hot mixer", dj demigod perfected his nightclub/DJ/entertainment skillz along side the likes of: Craig Lee (on-time DJ for New York's renowned Studio 54), Chuck Weissmueller (Billboard DJ of the Year), Kevin Halstead (DJ/Re-mixer/Producer for UC/Underground Construction Records, n3music, TKC Entertainment - Chicago "House" Legend), Alex "Peace" Martinez (Alex Peace, Peace MC - mcm, logic), Frankie "Hollywood" Rodriguiz, Julian "Jumpin'" Perez and Tim "Spinnin'" Schomer (Chicago "House" Legends & W.B.B.M. FM: B-96 Air Personalities), and Richard "Humpty" Vision (The Movement, DJ/Re-mixer/Producer), just to name a few. RESPECT!
On the entertainment side, dj demigod has played host and Emcee (a.k.a. MC MARS) to such acts/stars/performers as: "Bad Boy Bill", Bobby D., "Bubba The Love Sponge", Casmiere, Danny DeVito, DUICE/LA Snow Entertainment, "Fast Eddie", D'ZYRE, Famous Artists Talent Agency, "Georgie Porgie", Gillette, Hollywood Records, Icy Blu, Inner City, Giggles, L.A.W., Legacy, Miranda, The Party, The Movement, Real 2 Real Featuring The Mad Stuntman, Soul System, Sound Factory (Emil Hellman & St. James), Tommy E., "Too Kool Chris" (TKC Entertainment), Lidell Townsell & M.T.F. and many more.
Working his way up through the ranks, becoming a critical and crucial part of various management teams, and achieving a high level of acclaim for his work, dj demigod was recruited by the largest dance club in the nation (Discovery Dance Club) in 1989. Shortly thereafter, the club was featured in a music video for MTV and first ever, live "New Years Eve Bash" television broadcast on Channel 2 (W.B.B.M. TV in Chicago). From 1989 to 1995, he served as the Supervisor and Director of Operations & Entertainment. In 1990/91, he received a degree with an emphasis in Entertainment Management.
In 1995, he was nominated and selected for inclusion in the '94 - '95 Executive Edition of Sterling's Who's Who.
In 1999/2000 dj demigod along with his company MEGA PRO Innovative Nightclub Creations, was hired by MIRAGE RESORTS, INC. to spearhead a 4 month project to prove to the casino that a nightclub atmosphere was a viable and profitable venture for a casino lounge. Under the watchful eye of Andre Carrier (C.O.O. of The Golden Nugget), dj demigod exalted the average weekly attendance by 2150%.
dj demigod has owned and operated his own nightclub consulting company (MEGA PRO Innovative Nightclub Creations), mobile entertainment/DJ company and has been a D.J. for some of the hottest clubs throughout the Illinois and Vegas areas. On the production side, dj demigod has written and produced several radio commercials, re-mixes and "hot-mix" CD's. His first hot-mix cd, ZaZen Groove (a 66 minute, non-stop "hot-mix" collection featuring his own remixes of some of the hottest Ibiza House/Trance sounds around) was created back in 1999, years before Energy 92.7 & 5 hit the airwaves and started playing dance orientated music. Feng Shui Flow, dj demigod’s second mix cd was a venture into another category and style of music – journeying into the unusual sounds of jungle/drum ‘n’ bass. dj demigod's ability to pick the hot songs, put's him years ahead of his competition. In addition to his dj skills, dj demigod is also an accomplished cartoonist, web page/graphics designer, and his giant wall murals have adorned the walls of some favorite clubs around the area... making him a truly talented artist and in demand...!
One thing that dj demigod absolutely refuses to do, unlike most dj's, is classify, brand or label himself as a particular type of dj who spins only one style of music. dj demigod is extremely versatile, proficient and fluid at spinning all kinds of dance orientated music, including: all forms of House, Trance, Ibiza, Techno, Progressive and Garage, Electronic, Hip-Hop, R&B and Jungle/Drum 'n' Bass.
"I believe all dj's are artists, like painters and poets. Painters and poets use their art and words for self expression. I do the same thing through my d-jaying. I believe that in every mix, a dj is expressing a feeling or emotion through the music he picks... and that music... tells his/her story. That's why I get so into my mixes and sets... I want people to hear and sense what I'm saying and feeling, and I want them to come along for the ride...!"
Since the music dj demigod chooses for his hot-mix cd’s is so important, he will usually make only 1 hot-mix cd every 1 to 2 years. Yes… to him the quality, the song and what the statement of the song is, IS that important! “I will never be one of those dj’s who pump out crappy hot-mix cd’s every month just to make a buck”. dj demigod prefers quality over quantity… just like true artists do.
There are very few persons in the nightclub industry that have more experience, knowledge, education, talent and skill then dj demigod. dj demigod has worked for and managed (26) – Entertainment Businesses T.T.D. – (16) – Nightclubs – (5) – Gentlemens Clubs – (5) – Radio Stations. Out-of-the-box approach, progressive in his ideas, quick to spot trends and always producing results… that’s dj demigod.
