You Can Sleep When You're Dead.

About Me

I don't know where to start... except to say that I love people. I believe each one of us has a unique story to tell, and lessons to both learn and teach. Life is too short, so I believe in keeping it jam-packed with good times, good friends, and amazing experiences. Some things you should know: You'll rarely find me at home; I'm as loyal as they come - love me, love my friends; I have a temper that has been curbed in recent years, but still has the potential to blow up; I curse like a sailor; I believe sleep is overrated; Yes, my cell phone is attached to my hand; I don't entirely trust people who don't love animals and/or babies; I don't really like getting birthday gifts because I'd rather the money get spent on someone who actually needs it; I love my family and friends more than you will ever know; I think I'm funny even if you don't think so; I do a smashing Bill Cosby impression - no really. The single goal I strive for every day is to work toward ensuring that my funeral is standing room only. It sounds morbid, but if you've read Tuesdays with Morrie, you have an idea what I mean. Some quotes I live by: 1) people may not always remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel and 2) you can sleep when you're dead.

My Interests

In no particular order: Advising my beautiful girlies - they are the lights of my life, music, good books, awesome people, excuses to travel anywhere, airports (I love that feeling just before you take a trip somewhere!), laughing til my sides hurt, dancing for the sheer joy of it, rocking out to a live band in a small venue at loud decibels, making people laugh, sticking the landing, river dancing, running, watching the grass grow on a sunny day, bonfires on the beach with friends, sharing dessert, singing out loud in my car, seeing things through someone else's eyes, writing, taking lots and lots of pictures, stimulating conversations over a good meal and plenty of good beer/alcohol, playing with my goddaughters, cousins' kids, and friends' kids, trying new things with the right people, reconnecting with old friends, making new friends, smiling at strangers, making someone's day, partying at the house with the musician friends because it means drinking and guitar playing and singing off-key (I love you guys!), practicing random acts of kindness and senseless beauty... I think that about covers it...

I'd like to meet:

Sapphire Ball 2007Orlando & Kenya's Wedding in Key West, FloridaAdry & Donavan's Wedding in Houston, TX

Music:

Music is the soundtrack to life, and you need a little bit of everything to make it all come together! That being said, some of my personal faves are: Metallica, Depeche Mode, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, AudioSlave, Green Day, Johnny Cash, The Killers, The Dixie Chicks, Korn, The Cure, George Strait, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Guns and Roses, Ozomatli, Natasha Bedingfield... all sorts of one hit wonders from the 80s and random ass songs that you hear on the radio and say, "Hey! I LOVE THAT SONG!" I also LOVE local music... my very favorite local band? The Almighty Grind, of course! They're my brothas from anotha motha! Also check out Interstate Nine. Their singer is amazing!

Movies:

The Princess Bride; Mulan; LOTR - the whole trilogy; In America; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Clerks; Mall Rats; Chasing Amy; Clerks II; Finding Neverland; Goonies; Sixteen Candles; Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle; Wedding Crashers; Breakfast Club; Pirates of the Carribean; Chronicles of Narnia; History of the World, Part I; Monty Python and the Holy Grail... I could go on forever...

Television:

CSI (all of them), Miami Ink, Without a Trace, Cold Case... do you sense a theme? I hardly have enough time to watch TV though... eh.

Books:

My two favorite books of all time are by Mitch Albom - "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven." I am forever changed by this man's words. I also love stuff by Amy Tan, Sandra Cisneros, Studs Terkel, Maxine Hong Kingston, Richard Wright, and Shakespeare, but I'll read just about anything and everything.

Heroes:

My moms and my pops; Neddie (R.I.P.); the women I advise because they are truly phenomenal; Dave Westol; Mike Okura...

Some Chicken Soup for the Soul

No matter how many times this story gets passed around, or how many times I read it, I cry every time.  It's a great reminder of how influential we each can be! **********************************...
