If you want to set the world on fire, you're going to need a match

About Me

"When no one ever listened to you, really listened, you could begin to lose the ability to tell whether or not you were making sense when you talked"

My Interests

Delving into the mysteries of the Magic 8 Ball, rearranging furniture, sloooowly writing my novel, driving past places I would like to visit, talking to myself in mangled French, deciphering the text messages I sent last night, cooking without recipes, and beating out small kitchen fires.

I'd like to meet:

Myself (ten years from now), and myself (ten years ago). I think I would have a lot to talk about with myselves.

Music:

The most random list of people and bands. Introduce me and I just might fall in love with it. Or hate it and blame you for wasting my time.

Movies:

Have you ever sat in the dark, white credits rolling on a black screen, and were unable to move from your seat? Like that two hours of film had changed your life and you would never be the same? Then you willed your legs to move, you walked out into the painful glare of day, and you looked at people around you and could almost see the tiny cogs and wheels turning inside their heads? That is the kind of film I like.

Television:

If you would like a quick glimpse into the decline of civilization, watch "The Flavor of Love". If you squint, you can see a mushroom cloud and all four Horsemen.

Books:

David Sedaris, Tom Robbins, Wendy Brenner, Madeleine L'Engle, the brothers Grimm, Tolkein, Maya Angelou, Margaret Atwood, Ayn Rand, Andre Breton, Tony Hoagland

Heroes:

You- if you do something productive and care about the future.

be careful

Do you ever think about how fragile life is? Not life in general, or your own life, but the lives of the people around you? I thought about that on my way to work today. I was driving down some h...

near-fatalities

1: I was kicked rather violently (though accidentally) from a very tall, historically important cannon at the age of two. I straddled a spoke on the cannon's wheel and almost bled to death, due ...
