Marquis de Rad

About Me

RIP, THE MARQUIS DE RAD, 2004-2007. LONG LIVE Fuck Mountain.
the Marquis de Rad formed in 2004. we have played with The Black Angels, The Mae Shi, Racebannon, The Show is the Rainbow, Books on Tape, and Hockey Night. We once ate 38 eggs in under a week.
Once we rocked so hard that two of us threw up.
We are a simultaneous celebration and deconstruction of bombastic, bare-chested rock and roll. A lifeline of shambolic riffs and rhythms, channelling delta blues stomps and outlaw country swagger, through screaming 60s garage rock, the androgynous machismo of glam, and the space freakouts of prog and psychrock, then funnelling it all through the reckless chaos of 80s hardcore and the breakneck fury of metal.
What people are saying, mostly using the phrase "you guys":
"I've been listenin' to you guys all week. Fuckin' hilarious." -Morgan Geer of Drunken Prayer, Unholy Trio, 2007
"You guys have great energy." -the Black Angels, 2006
"You guys were really ripping into it."-George Barbuto, college dean, former Lou Reed roadie, 2005
"The first garage rock classic of the new year!" -NME, 2006, about someone else
"Is this The Marquis de Rad?" -Becky G., hearing Blue Cheer's first album, 2005
"When I do sit-ups, bees fly out of my twat." -also Becky, 2007
